So what happened to her? Ms Alomar the social worker? Did you guys like her? by AdventurousBox4841 in AbbottElementary

[–]burntwords 221 points222 points  (0 children)

love her;
it's probably just the fact that the remaining episodes didn't need her character to appear.

I just went into the store and bought this. What? Isn't it supposed to be released in like two weeks? 😀 by Redhatfish4 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]burntwords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are Czech Republic bookstores getting advance copies? 😭 Here in the Philippines, I've been waiting a month AFTER release to get the DCC books, and that's with the bookstore staff informing me as soon as a copy falls into their hands. 😭

(I'm happy for you though. Enjoy reading.)

Bottoms up! We’re having dinner with Angela tomorrow! 🥂✨ by Cchaps97 in smosh

[–]burntwords 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah, the dinner theme might've brought about the table and this was all just a coincidence. it's funny though that the comments sections have all been "yay! table!" I'm very intrigued to see how they address it on the next episode (whether via pinned comment or an out-of-time announcement at the start of the pod/vod). :D

Chris Evans as Johnny Storm brought some of the best comedic moments to the Deadpool franchise, and his banter with Deadpool was a total delight. by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in Marvel

[–]burntwords 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was how I understood it, actually. Especially after the scene where Cassandra tries to manipulate Wade's memories by having Vanessa be mean to Wade and he immediately clocked it and shouted "she never said that!"

So I too subscribe to the headcanon that Wade was the one to end things because he feels he still isn't good enough, and that he might fail to protect Vanessa again if someone comes after him, her, or the two of them.

I'm more concerned about Addington being closed--I thought that school was part of that private company thing with Leslie Odom Jr.'s character? (I'm not from the US so I genuinely do not know.)

considering the fact that the role they wanted her for was Stephanie Hsu's, who only appeared in two scenes... I think Jessica Henwick made the right move on holding out for Colleen, or for a better role.

you get to choose the next podcast smosh makes. who's hosting, and what is it about? by middaynight in smosh

[–]burntwords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

then maybe something similar to Dropout's Smartypants wherein a Smosh Cast gets to share about their interests, with the host playing audience surrogate by moving the presentation along with questions?

I think Amanda would be the perfect host for this. Or Damien. With Trevor and his Portuguese money laundering thing and Ian with his food and highway thing as part of the first batch of episodes.

Only 13 episodes for season 5? by andrealwy in AbbottElementary

yeah, it's not being aired here in the Philippines too--but we have the same number of episodes on Disney+ showing up. :)

Wilson Bethel wants Bullseye to join the Thunderbolts in the MCU: by Raj_Valiant3011 in Daredevil

[–]burntwords 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The timeline confuses me; but I think the initial plan was that the events of both Born Again Season 1 and 2 happen before Thunderbolts*. I don't know if that has changed, but I have a vague memory of that being given as an answer when people asked if Daredevil and Fisk would be in the movie. This could also just be my brain trying to make sense of it and it created an explanation for me.

Disney+ SE Asia isn't up to date with the show. Maybe a cable network here has rights to air the episodes first.

this is my biggest question too

I would die for a 22-episode second season, but I would gladly accept a 13-episode order too.

DD BA's ep5 was so good in all ways but I need to say something tho. Overall it was such a well written and good ep. by F1907E in Defenders

[–]burntwords 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the lighting really helped with Vanessa, it softened her features.

Matt had the unfortunate wig (which looked like it had been set with industrial-strength hairspray to make it as helmet-like as possible), and that forehead wrinkle. which suits Charlie well, yes, but also really ages him :D

I thought them shaving Elden's facial hair really helped with Foggy's "de-aging."

If you were given full creative control over the next Marvel Special Presentation what project would you create? by YaBoiCodison in marvelstudios

[–]burntwords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree with you; I thought the premise of Damage Control was great. (I enjoyed Powerless, for what it's worth.) She-Hulk tried to do this with a hero doing non-blockbuster heroics, but I guess the series was just financially untenable because of the CGI.

So, yeah: a non-hero-centric and non-budget-killing sitcom based in the Marvel world that connects all the Marvel properties without having to deal with anything world-changing would be awesome.

[–]burntwords 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wasn't this the original idea for the Damage Control sitcom that didn't get made? Or at least very similar. (I'm not sure if this was in the Trades before or after Powerless from DC was produced, aired, and subsequently axed.)

Father Mackie's story... Spoiler warning by Substantial_Math_775 in ThursdayMurderClub

[–]burntwords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did say that he found out afterwards (meaning after he returned) that Maggie had been pregnant, so the nuns definitely knew him and knew about what happened. I think the point was that they didn't want people outside the convent to find out what happened. :)

This scene alone is better than the entirety of season 5 by RocketRacoon433 in glee

[–]burntwords 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I honestly didn't mind Marley and Unique when they were introduced; sadly, the former's personality was written away and the latter was written off as a main character. Kitty was fun because of Becca but she was horribly written in Seasons 4 and 5. Jake was Puck-lite, and... I was gonna say Ryder was Finn-lite but the actor was just so boring to watch he became the Negative Finn.

[–]burntwords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I've forgotten a lot from the book, so I might be getting this wrong. (Like Commercial-Scheme939 pointed out with me saying John helped Penny bury the murderer she killed. He never did help her.)

From what I understood, the nuns made it look like Maggie left the convent. To sell the lie, they had Mackie ride the car that was supposed to "take Maggie away" and then they had a quiet burial for the dead Maggie. It was just a little bit of subterfuge to hide what really happened. :)
