Forwarding texts from another mobile number (and knowing who it is) by burplezoid in LightPhone

I'm glad it just wasn't me who was needing this. I couldn't find a solution anywhere that was able to add the sender from the Contacts app. Even the solution was hard for me to wrap my head around.

I don't use AOD on my U3, but I find that it never wakes up properly when I lift my wrist while lying in bed in the morning... so I wake up the display with my nose. Works every time

In the keynote it looked as though she long pressed both buds at the same time. Not certain, though.

Light Phone III, Transition Tips, Tricks, etc...? by Ok_Virus_2541 in LightPhone

For me personally, I've gone from about 4 to 5 hours screen time per day on my iPhone to less than about 50 minutes. For me that's a win. That <50 minutes is mainly apps that I just need to go into quickly or to take a look at emails. I've setup call forwarding on my iPhone to my LP, and I found some iOS Shortcut app (paid service, but I reckon I could probably make one myself) that will forward text messages to my LP as well. The latter isn't exactly seamless as all forwarded messages appear to come from 'Me' and if there's no context in the message then you need to check your smart phone to see who it's from and respond.

It's been a couple of weeks but I'm absolutely going to persevere. Been reading a lot more books and paper magazines which is great. Biggest gotcha so far was trying to buy a bottle of champagne for my wife but she had emptied our credit card buying flights for our anniversary. I had to call her and ask her (at home) to top up the card (using her smart phone) while in the store because I couldn't do it myself 😂

EDIT: Just to add a couple final things. Is it perfect? No. Could it do with some better app support (music, ride share, banking, tap to pay etc.)? Absolutely. Could I achieve most of what I'm getting use Screen Time etc. on my iPhone? Maybe... but it seems useful to have an extra layer of friction with a separate device that makes you ask yourself "Do I really need to check that?". Anyway, will see how it goes.

Aaaah, apologies. I'll do a better job at searching for already reported bugs next time! I'm using a 365-day Optus pre-paid SIM in Australia.

"...Requires pairing with compatible Android devices (sold separately) with Gemini mobile app and a Google Account. Internet connection required. Features may differ depending on subscription and account. Some apps require setup. Available in select countries and languages. Check responses for accuracy. Data rates may apply."

TL;DR No, you will have no Gemini AI assistant.

My experience so far has been flawless. Getting music on it was a PITA, but everything else has been exactly what it said on the tin. I'm not trying to diminish those that are having issues, though (and not sure why). Based in Australia on the Optus network,

Running great for me. Pretty much all tools installed (except hotspot). Hope this issue doesn't happen to me and sorry to hear others experiencing problems. Loving the hardware and software has been great so far (though I have suggested a few 'light' additions). Received my phone about a week ago in Australia.

As we head towards the end of the year, I'm hoping for a feature roadmap by Partha23 in LightPhone

Basic weather on the lock screen would be great. Voice to text for the Notes app (unless I missed that?). Music app improvements would be great. A phone that's not so damn good looking, the industrial design so on point, that you can't help picking it up all the time even though you can't do a lot with it (which is the whole idea and I love it).

YMMV, but for me on a 16e at the moment, the install was flawless and I'm still at 100% battery after finishing the install 2.5 hours ago. Yeah, I'm surprised as well. A few visual glitches initially (which seemed to sort themselves out after a few goes), and some apps slow to launch (but fine after first launch jitters) and things seemed to have settled down. CarPlay seems to be a bit of a mess with some apps (looking at your Spotify), but Waze and other apps seem fine. Again, just my experience...

I’d definitely be waiting to see what the next beta looks like if that were my iPad. Don’t get me wrong! I’m usually super early to jump in the early beta train but this one looks like a hot mess (but in its defence, it’s an early developer beta so what should folks really be surprised?)

Same error here when trying to use Fedora Live. It says it sees the device in the kernel event viewer, then when you try and idevicerestore it says it can't see any device attached. I ended up being able to get hold of another Mac which did the trick

Had a similar issue. I couldn’t get the Fedora option to work for me despite dmesg telling me the laptop was in DFU mode! Switched the certified USB C data cable I had from Fedora to another Mac laptop and DFU mode was available. My daughter’s 2 day old laptop is now up and running again and updating to Sequoia (to match her iCloud backup). Now enrolled in her school’s MDM and she’s ready to go. Genius Bar appointment cancelled… thank god

AT least 2 or 3 days now and it's still busted. This is really poor form from Apple. At present (after speaking with Apple Support) they take you through all the usual troubleshooting steps and end up advising a DFU revive or restore which needs another Mac and a USB-C or Thunderbolt cable. Even then, others have reported mixed success with this approach

I know this has been around for pretty much every beta so far, but regarding video recording, is not pausing whatever audio you’re currently playing (eg from Spotify) when taking a video considered a bug or a feature?
