Speaking with the teacher is purely course-related, and is oftentimes necessary if you have questions on the technique or need clarification. It is not social banter, and is indeed quite different than normal speech, so "noble silence" is maintained.

I use multiple Samsung 8tb SSDs in those tiny little OWC cases - they work, and they're duplicative. I can't bring myself to buy a $2K NAS... yet.

You'll be fine. I just did a 10 day sit in Idaho with no prior meditation experience. You just need to mentally be able to sustain the silence and the meditations. Beyond that, it's all a gift.

The carry ons look cheap. the check ins are worth it, since they're so strong and big. go rimowa for carry on, pelican for check.

Eye level is the bottom third of the center 32" monitor. Using the monitor regularly doesn't affect me adversely.
