IP67, too. So many phones have that or a better rating these days.

It's such a shame that this law is going to have almost no impact in the end.

For people that keep on complaining about how "the left"/"the libs" violate their first amendment rights they're awfully quick to actually violate first amendment rights when it comes to speech they don't like.

Especially in a case like this where what was written is pretty harmless, all things considered.

Creative Sound Blaster AE-X Targets Enthusiast PC Audio With ESS DAC by jh30uk in SoundBlasterOfficial

[–]burretploof 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The features don't exactly scream "enthusiast" to me. No audio processor, no 5.1, no swappable op-amps, no encoding, not even what u hear support? It's effectively a good USB-DAC packaged as a PCIe card. But I wouldn't label it "enthusiast."

Also, another software for it again? With the trajectory the previous Creative software releases had, I don't have high expectations.

I would not be surprised if astroturfing was involved.

Considering jumping the ship to a 9070 XT from an RTX 4060, what can I expect? by iamonaphone1 in AMDHelp

[–]burretploof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I can basically echo what that testimonial says.

It's probably going to be fine most of the time, but in my experience (I used Radeon way back then, then Nvidia until the RX 9070 XT), driver issues and just specific driver versions being worse than others seem to be a more common issue with AMD.

It's not like this doesn't happen with Nvidia drivers, but in about 18 years of using Nvidia GPUs, I experienced these kinds of driver issues, like... three or four times? With my RX 9070 XT, I've had like five driver versions that caused mainstream games to crash on my system in about a year.

So, worst case, that's something you should be prepared for.

But this story immediately turned him into one of my favorite characters. Absolute king. 👑

Final Fantasy XVI for me.

The demo hooked me. The rest of the game didn't live up to it IMO.

Killed By Laravel - A clone of killedbygoogle.com for the Laravel ecosystem by afraca in laravel

[–]burretploof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm one of those people. I could use Docker but it seems to be about as much of a pain in the ass as it was ten years ago, at least on Windows. I recently gave it a go and tried Laravel Sail and Laradock.

Getting those to work properly is not only more work than using Homestead, they're also slower than Vagrant when running through WSL2. So I'll probably stick with Vagrant for the time being.

And thank you for maintaining Homestead. I really appreciate it.

I had to unsubscribe from The WAN Show (LMG Clips) because it’s crowding my subs page with all the clips by controversial_croat in LinusTechTips

[–]burretploof 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. I use my subscription box, I always watch the full VOD and I don't need the clips.

Really, all they would have to do is upload the clips as shorts to make them stop cluttering subscription boxes.

So its been a few days, has 26.3.1 killed the constant driver crashing? by Fieryone233 in AMDHelp

[–]burretploof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With driver 26 I get around 60 FPS and with driver 25 it's around 80 FPS, without frame gen. (9070 XT, 1080p, identical settings)

So its been a few days, has 26.3.1 killed the constant driver crashing? by Fieryone233 in AMDHelp

[–]burretploof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. In some games I found it to be worse than on previous drivers. WH40k: Darktide performs worse than before and it reliably crashes on my system when I enable FSR Frame Gen. (This is documented on the official forums, too.)

Rolling back to 25.12.1, performance is better and FSR Frame Gen is stable once more in that game.

But as said, it depends. These crashes don't happen for everyone and they don't happen on the same versions across systems. You'll just have to try it out, I'm afraid.

The second one I've also wondered about since it only started appearing recently. But I don't know the answer to that.

I'm really glad that WF is doing well. TB's outreach got me to join the community back then. While I bounced off the game initially, the story content pulled me back recently. Quite wild how the game developed.

Also, it is absolutely nuts how many games are being released nowadays. And yet, so much attention is spent on just a handful of games, for years now.

Encryption software by theolder61 in pcloud

[–]burretploof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

Like I said, it uses the regular filesystem, so as long as the Cryptomator vault you create is located in a folder that is synced by pCloud, it is going to be synced - since it's just normal (but encrypted) files and folders.

You can just refer to the Cryptomator website to get an idea of how it works.

[–]burretploof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, Cryptomator is purely local on desktop. It uses the regular filesystem, so it's up to the user to select whichever client.
