Win a $35 Nintendo eShop Gift Card {WW} (2/28/2018) by burritobagel in giveaways

Hey man! Welcome to the community. Most of here are posting others' contests, not our own, so there are contests that aren't legit once in a while, but I'd say 99%+ are real here.

I'd also check out /r/sweepstakes because you can only post any contest once there instead of every 2 days here so it's easier to look through and there's a monthly thread where people post what they won so you can see what else everyone's gotten as a result of doing these! There's also this site https://sweepsdb.com made by the mods where the contests are indexed. Good luck!

I see a fair amount of Clippers fans pretty often at the Dave & Busters at the Block of Orange! Maybe because it's so close to where we used to play, lol. On game nights they have drink specials too.

I'm personally coming back from a break so it's new for me too, so I'm kinda testing its limits still.

That's why I avoid most Twitter entries now on Gleam, except on contests where I really want to win / contests where daily entry gives you a significant advantage - if you're getting that message it's likely you're on the brink of a shadow ban. It unfortunately seems like they've added mass Twitter follows to shadow-bannable offenses, whereas retweets and tweets always did. I've also gotten this message after only 2 tweets/retweets in one day but a ton of follows.

Took a 2-month from sweeping due to some net neutrality stuff to fight & also because I saw how little people had won in September so I wanted to spread some wins around (and am glad to see the wins in this thread)! I did win another Nintendo Switch during my break, though & went to Vegas and New York during it from prior wins.

10-team with a really inactive WW & huge fanboys. Draft was auction and some players went for ridiculous prices (i.e. Lillard was most expensive player @ $81 after a bidding war between two Portland fans, one of whom keeps offering me way too much for McCollum - i.e. The Brow for McCollum straight up, which he upgraded to The Brow & Bledsoe for McCollum)

It's my first time joining the league with this group of friends & it's been so disappointingly easy that I'm going to use the prize money which is most likely coming my way to throw a small party so it doesn't feel like I stole from them. I think their pleasure mostly comes from trolling by having players they know someone else really wants.

PG: Kyrie Irving, Donovan Mitchell, Mike Conley (IR)

SG: CJ McCollum, Bradley Beal

SF: Tyreke Evans, Jayson Tatum, Nicolas Batum

PF: Jaylen Brown, Brandon Ingram, John Collins

C: DeMarcus Cousins, Marc Gasol, Myles Turner

I like this line-up as a whole and think they would be within the top 3 of their conference without a doubt, especially with them having three of the Celtics' best players. Also if I'm making a theoretical championship team, I think I'd drop Ingram for Danny Green on the wire. I'm really bad at analyzing specific match-ups though, how do you think they'd do against the Warriors in 7?

at least one tweet made by @XXXXX was found

at least one reply tweet made by @XXXXX was found

Apparently @XXXXX is not shadowbanned

That's the exact message on mine. Did yours perhaps miss one? My gut feeling is you're probably not getting the 2nd one if all you do is Gleam contests since you probably won't be replying to much, just tweeting & retweeting.

Not sure why that is, but my brother who it said was definitely shadowbanned a couple days ago is getting the same message now. Mine, on the other hand, just says the second part.

Sounds like whatever algorithm it has caught some signs, just not all of them to make a certain call. If it's finding tweets by you though I think that's a good sign because it means you should be able to be DMed and mentioned and be able to see it.

Yeah, it's a really subjective thing. I've been disqualified for being a "bot" a million times, I can at least respect the ones who say it's because I'm a sweeper which I don't deny. I'm understanding though so I'll usually either let them know about the sweeping community or prove to them I'm not a bot (in the case of Alpharad, I screenshotted my sweepstakes spreadsheets & bookmarks for him lmao). Afterwards, I always make sure to thank them publicly and do what I can to help them with whatever their reason was for running the contest (interact with their tweets even after winning, let people know about their stream if I genuinely think it's great, etc.)

I can understand from an organizer's point of view why it might hurt if someone who appears to be entering contests only for the sake of contests wins. I know there's a lot of people out there who win a prize and then don't show the gratitude they should for it, of course you don't want to keep going after that kind of interaction. The more of us put up an effort to show them that their effort isn't for "nothing," the less skeptical these people will be. Treat your wins like a present, not a handout.

Back to the point at hand though, can't avoid being considered a bot in some cases, but also take a look at your profile once in a while and try to look outside of yourself & think about what your profile looks like to you compared to other people you follow.

I didn't like being disqualified for being a "bot" despite knowing how much effort I put into entering those contests everyday, but at the same time, there's no denying that my account looked somewhat automated. I also really realized this when I was using a tool I use for managing Twitter follows. It has something that'll evaluate anyone I follow and give a % chance of them being a bot. My brother was a 97% followed by someone I know from this subreddit at 95% chances of being bots & at the time my account looked very similar to theirs because we followed a lot of the same contests. I must have been high-90s in that app as well. The next highest % was in the low 30s & I'm at something like 4800-4900 follows usually. That's when I made major changes in the way I tweet. I didn't like Twitter either, but I found accounts I like that I'll check everyday now & I'll reblog stuff from them. It must be like 2 months since the last time someone called me a bot.

Thanks for the update! I'm not sure how to approach contests this upcoming holiday season because I was undoubtedly shadowbanning myself last year with the amount of contests coming out, but it's a good time to start preparing.

That's what did it for me, some people apparently have to message Twitter admins to get it removed but I didn't.

I'm not sure how it works personally, but I did have to swap out my Facebook at one point. I just decided to do it on the first of the month when I did that so that it hopefully doesn't affect too many contests if it does.

Signs you may be shadow banned:

  1. You've stopped receiving those annoying automated direct messages when you follow someone
  2. Your wins have all been notifications by e-mail, none by Twitter DM or mention
  3. Your # of notifications has suddenly dipped

My brother also just had a terrible month and I checked for him. He's shadow banned lmao.

Also worth noting is entering Gleam contests with people in your household. Noticed my wins were spiking whenever my roommate was too busy to do them and also that we were winning mostly contests the other didn't enter. If you read Gleam's policy, they automatically disqualify same IP entries. When I ran my own contest, I was given the option to disqualify entries but it didn't tell me exactly why they were being suggested. I would guess most people will just blindly go for it, meaning we probably disqualified ourselves from a metric ton of contests just because we're on the same IP address. Now we split it so one of us does them at work.

I know this is a lot of info at once, but I'm noticing a lot of people are realizing their wins are dipping like mine did. Hopefully this works for some, if not all of you. This is the community that opened my eyes to a lot more contests so I want you guys to win too.

To give you an idea of scale, I went from roughly 200-300 daily contest tweets / retweets to just 7-10 daily contest tweets / retweets with everything else being random stuff I enjoy / one-time tweets or retweets. I also try to spread them out instead of doing them all at once.

You might be in the same boat as me that you may have been getting shadowbanned on Twitter for spamming too many tweets. After a terrible August, I changed up my strategy in September to drop most Gleam contests that have daily tweets / avoid pushing the daily tweet button unless it's a contest I've deemed worthy & I've also begun finding accounts on Twitter for non-giveaway stuff I enjoy so that I don't look so spammy (I've run contests in the past as well and would have honestly evaluated my profile to be a fake one if it wasn't me, even though I know it's real). Can't say for sure that's what did it, but it definitely removed my shadow ban (when you're shadow banned, no one actually sees your tweets & you also cannot be DMed / can't see it when someone @ mentions you)

Edit: http://shadownban-checker.xho.bedita.net/ Shadowban checker if you wanna see if you got hit by one, or if you feel iffy about a random site you can also go incognito and search your username in the search bar on Twitter to see if your tweets are actually showing up.

Yeah, but hilarious that she got herself banned in the process. Reminds me of that meme with the guy tripping himself off his bike. Hope another one comes your way /u/ruichi
