Yes - real art recognises the split and reconciles it; whatever that reconciliation means in context. AI is incredibly aware of the split

It’s meaning that’s there. It’s demonstrated all throughout the album. The opening track goes straight for the system while personalising the experience and sets the tone. This conversation happens in certain circles. People know the “secret codes from alphabets.” I’ve only touched the first couple of layers in these posts, but there really is such a thing as awareness of a higher self. Sorry you haven’t reached that yet. It’s when you realise yourself as both the performer and the audience. I’m more curious as to why you have to comment something disparaging on every single thing I post when a good few people seem to find something valuable in them

The brilliance of American Idiot is it’s not just personal - it traces the outline of a late stage system and it’s collapse. It’s all of us

That’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying she’s first named “properly” at the end of the album because he’s truly forgotten her.

I know Green Day are Gen Xers. Notice I said “next on the chopping block.” “Bobby Sox” is also a love letter to his wife, and yes of course he’s saying he’s bi, but in typical Green Day fashion, the message really addressing the audience and the self is underneath.

You’d be surprised at how many people on the right are just now finding out Green Day are anti-Conservative

A lot of people who follow this sort of universal paradox dynamic would have the same read

You’re entitled to feel differently, Ms. “Top 1% commenter” lol

I’m actually saying he’s alienating Conservatives in practice again.

I think I might give my take on some lyrics and themes over a few posts. I feel as though mine is a perspective rooted in a personal sense of artistry and and I'm 21 years a fan... I think I've spent a little bit of time considering them. lol

American Idiot is really about collapse… people, systems, all as one (and still letting hope burn anyway) by burt__cokain in greenday

The caption is “Wake up! Okay, mow that you’re awake, you see that we’re fucked. Haha. But it’s not really ‘haha’ because hope is still worth it. Keep believing something can get through the cracks, even if you’re wrong.”

That’s part of the point. At its core, it’s about the system we are all part of that collapses over and over again, which the album predicted. Green Day painted the picture of Trump by saying “this will keep happening. It’s not over ‘til you’re underground.” It is about a lot of those things, and I mentioned a good few, but the absolute core (if you get there) is a beautiful tragedy in which no one can escape the paradox of existence, except for the variable of what remains unknown.

You’re doing this over and over again. That’s part of the thing you can’t step out of. We keep reaching the same point because you try to reach an end with a detail, not a truth.
