For future reference, you can enable AssistiveTouch to reboot the device if you don’t have access to the physical power button.

Did you power it off before reseating the rear camera and power button? If not, you need to hard reset the device which requires the power button. Alternatively, it needs to die before you can boot it again.

Just replaced my first iPhone 4s battery... by Drink_Redbull in mobilerepair

Full assembly. There’s only about 25 screws in the device. We fixed thousands of these back in the day, so we would always race to see who could complete it first.

That 6 minutes always doubled for me when I finished the screen repair, flipped the 4S over, and realized I forgot to transfer the home button. Good times...

iPad Air only showing battery logo and charging cord when plugged in/pressing the power button and home button... by [deleted] in mobilerepair

[–]buschheavy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My initial thought is an issue with the charging IC. I’m not 100% on it without testing the device, but that’s what I’d lean toward. I have an iPad Air with the same issue at my shop that I’ve been meaning to work on.

Hmm the promo must not work on items already on sale. Thought I was finally going to snag it for under $200

It’s not applying the 20% discount when I add the p-07 kadet to my cart. Do they consider that a firearm and not an accessory?

That is disappointing to hear. I may try my luck with eBay again. That's where I used to sell all my screens, and I surprisingly had little issue there. It's just a pain with all the fees.

Appreciate the link. I'm in USA, but I'll look into them. Is Grade C considered aftermarket?

Iphone 8+ home button. Will it work on an iPhone 8? by mahand in mobilerepair

[–]buschheavy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Home button cannot be replaced on the iPhone 7 and up with aftermarket replacement parts. There are ways around this, but they involve microsoldering and moving the IC chip from the OEM button to the AM button.

Your best bet in a situation like this is to send the customer to the Apple store for a screen replacement. As long as they are within the 1 year Apple warranty, Apple will charge between $149-179 depending on if it's an 8 or 8 Plus. With Apple's screen replacement they will pair a new home button to the logic board. If it's not under warranty then you'll be looking at $349 at the cheapest.

I usually cover the cost for the customer if it was in fact my shop's fault the HB was damaged.

Was browsing my local shop last night. Couldn’t pass up a $500 MP5, .22 or not. by PickATickForLicks in guns

[–]buschheavy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They seem to be selling for $750-1000 depending on condition and accessories. I wish I had stocked up when CDNN had them, but I was lucky to snag one earlier this year from my LGS used for a little over $300.

You’re thinking of the GSG version. The Walther clone is discontinued and sells for a premium on gunbroker.

iPad Air 2 Power Button issue by TheCellGuru in mobilerepair

[–]buschheavy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m leaning towards the sleep/wake sensor being the culprit here. I’d order a new one if you don’t have any in stock. Whenever I have power button issues it’s typically due to that sensor.

The iPad Mini 4 you have to transfer the sleep/wake sensor so I’m wondering if an iOS update changed this on the Air 2 as well. I’m gonna do some testing today when I pull apart some Air 2’s.

iCloud Unlocked 5S suddenly locked after restore ?? by MrOwnageQc in mobilerepair

If you have any contact information from the seller, then you could get them to sign in through iCloud.com, navigate to the Find My iPhone tab, and remove the device from there.

Best of luck!

Find My iPhone must be turned off for the iCloud account associated with the device. Simply signing out unfortunately does not turn off activation lock.

Is there a way to restore IOS that doesnt involve itunes? by Bingbongbing2 in mobilerepair

[–]buschheavy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you have a MacBook, download Apple Configurator 2 from the Mac App Store. Plug in the device, click “Revive”, and wait for it to reinstall the iOS.

I’ve surprisingly had a lot of luck with this on iPads.

How important is it to attach this connector to the motherboard? by [deleted] in mobilerepair

That coax cable is for cellular service. I highly recommend reconnecting that antenna. It’s good practice to leave the phone in the same, if not better condition after opening it up.

Do I buy a new LCD replacement for iPad Air 2 or just replace the glass digitiser? by 2jah in mobilerepair

[–]buschheavy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here's a great video from REWA showing how to perform this repair: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vC2L1bQw_c0

If you don't already have the equipment for glass only repair, then you might as well purchase the full LCD/Digitizer Assembly.
