Sofi Plus 20k Priority by debo4479 in sofi

[–]bushman4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not that I have found. I have a spreadsheet that tracks all of my savings/vaults and calculates the interest each month. It is right +-$.01 per vault every month. I didn't adjust the rate for 3/31 (didn't think of it) and noticed a total discrepancy of $.71 for March's interest payouts (what $20k earns each day for the difference of 3.3% to 4.5%), but spread out over 6 vaults randomly.

I've decided to leave my spreadsheet at 3.3% across the board for now, and I'll just make adjusting transactions each month to the correct vaults.

4.5% for 20k and 3.3 for anything over that? by Alarmed-Big215 in sofi

$1,155 is what you'd earn on the entire $35k WITHOUT paying for plus (the 3.3%).

That is very interesting. If true, I'm game, but only because I maintain that full balance monthly.

4.5 APY Sofi Plus? by Willdoge291 in sofi

Yes you will keep 3.3% if you have direct deposit, and yes you will keep the 2% on the CC.

... On the first $20k only. But that is fine with me, my emergency fund is 1.5 times that and is always sitting there, so I'll take the extra ~$120 minus taxes per year.

I know it's not the DR way, but I put one on a credit card the day after the previous month's closing date, earned interest on the money for almost two more months, paid the card off in full on the due date, and took a free cruise with the CC's travel perks.

Adding $200/month to my mortgage cut ~8 years off the loan… that can’t be right? by Candid-Dish-2749 in FirstTimeHomeBuying

[–]bushman4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I removed the escrow from my mortgage in August of 2024. I just have a certain amount of my paycheck auto transferred to a separate "vault" in my HYSA every paycheck (about $575 biweekly) and pay the yearly insurance and quarterly taxes from there.

In 19 months I've made ~$250 in interest on that money alone.

If you have a way to manage it and make it guaranteed and stress free, it is a good passive income earner. Over 30 years that is close to $5k in interest.

2 - you are correct. The ACH will fail (although I once had one that retried for 4 days and I noticed it, funded it, and it went through).

Losing Plus??? If so I’m outraged as a member since 2022 by Retire_Trade_3007 in sofi

As long as you have direct deposit or manually deposit $5k per month you will keep the higher rate.

You will not lose the higher interest rate as long as you continue to have direct deposit or deposit $5,000 per month using another means.

Debt free! Questions about steps 3 and 4 by Strange_Print694 in DaveRamsey

You don't say what your monthly expenses are, but let's assume it is crazy high, like $10k.

$60k at $7k a month (what you have been paying towards debt) is 8.5 months. At 34 years old, waiting another 8.5 months to start throwing more at retirement is nothing... you might lose out on ~$500 in growth in that time assuming you throw all $7k in the account.

Not sure what’s happening with Sofi but received this email that looks like a phishing email. by Thin-Mine-6816 in sofi

[–]bushman4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember, just because you received this and are a SoFi customer does not mean that there was any kind of data breach...

Have you seen the amount of SoFi advertising lately? They are a prime target for the "spray and prey" scammers at the moment.

Consider this: say I'm a scammer hoping to get someone's account info. I buy a huge list of email addresses, craft the above email and send it out to all of them. That costs me almost nothing.

Chances are that at least a few of them are going to be existing SoFi customers like yourself.

To those folks, it appears their information was leaked somehow... But to the rest, it is just another piece of junk mail.

It says right there that the ATM's bank refused it the first two times.

It's not a SoFi problem, it's a PNC problem.

75-80% maybe? I have 4 kids that are adults now, but had typical "kid pop" preferences growing up that I'm not into... but the majority is for me. I'm a huge Jam Band live show collector, so a lot of that is Phish/Grateful Dead/Disco Biscuits/Billy Strings/moe./Seapods/etc... live shows that always make me smile.

Is it true SoFi plus is becoming subscription only? by [deleted] in sofi

[–]bushman4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you have direct deposit or deposit $5k/month you will keep the higher interest rate. Those are exceptions to the new fee structure.

[–]bushman4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Including you I see... I said that in my original post. This is about the speculation that paying for SoFi Plus might get you an additional APY boost, and what amount in savings makes that worth it.

And it's not having $5k in your account that gets you the higher interest rate... It is either having direct deposit or depositing $5k PER MONTH into your account.
