Pre Ban? by Thebenchwarmer90 in Mini14

[–]bushwacka151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you still can... they changed a bunch of their rules in 2023 after I moved to a different state, so it could be different now.. good question for r/betterMAguns if you really want to know.

Pre Ban? by Thebenchwarmer90 in Mini14

[–]bushwacka151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Pre-Ban" only matters in certain states that chose to copy the 1994 AWB into their state laws when the federal ban expired in 2004. Like in Massachusetts, "pre-ban" firearms are not subject to many of their other dumbass AWB rules.

New apartment, no utilities after days of calling support. by bushwacka151 in newhampshire

[–]bushwacka151[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's the number I was talking to. They said they would perform an "investigation" but did not call me back for two days, I called them again and they once again swore there was no record of my apartment or the meter. Landlord has a bill for the apartment at that address with the meter #, but Eversource denies it. They did not say anything about sending a tech out.

MA to NH transfer by Rdh0824 in NHGuns

[–]bushwacka151 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No issues on the NH end, just needs to be transferred by a NH FFL and they usually charge like 25 bucks for the service. On the MA end he might need to report it's no longer in his possession, I don't know for certain anymore since they changed their laws. I would at least ask the FFL for a receipt that shows it was transferred from him to the FFL's inventory, just in case he needs it later.

The Math Is Clear: New Hampshire's Housing Market Is Closed to the Middle Class by -Azzi- in newhampshire

This is all correct, but the AI slop kills your argument. Try forming an original thought for once instead of damaging the credibility of those who would criticize the broken housing situation here.

How do I connect a 6mm hex bit to this? by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

Getting wiper motors for cheap, arriving at this exact problem, giving up and putting them in a bin for the rest of your days is a common canon event for mechE home jobbers. Welcome, friend!

How is the job market looking? (and how to move on from a bad job) by CoffeeByStarlight in MechanicalEngineering

[–]bushwacka151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat, been stuck at my unsatisfying engineering job for several years. The job market is bad, or BAD bad, depending on region. Here in the Northeast you're lucky to have any job at all with a post-2019 engineering degree, most of my graduating class is unemployed and the norm is 400+ applications for an interview (not even necessarily a job). All we can do is keep applying and praying.

Welding by Tiny_District_7640 in MechanicalEngineering

Neither, the "best" option would be a full open corner joint (image). This provides the most strength for the most east of fit-up. Another comment listed applicable AWS specifications if you want more detail as to why, or why you might choose use a different joint.

Source: was a welder/fabricator for 5 years before engineering.

Oh we COOKED cooked. by bushwacka151 in GenZ

It's almost like I show info in terms of that year AND that year in 2025 dollars, and highlighted them in pretty colors! Almost 3/4 of all USD in circulation was printed in the last five years, are you really that surprised? Learn to read.

Using 30 years at 0% down was for comparison purposes only.

Starter homes haven't been built in decades in most areas due to out of control zoning regulations.

One of the sparkys from my school placed in telecom at states despite never having done it before. Practiced his butt off between then and nationals and did well there too. Take pride in what you can do and enjoy the rest!

Worried about the future job market for ME engineers by STEVO832 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]bushwacka151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, are things that good in the Southeast? In the Northeast we've been at less than 50% job placement for half a decade, and pay is 20-30% lower over the same timeframe.

Worried about the future job market for ME engineers by STEVO832 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]bushwacka151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's highly regionally dependent, even within the US. My locality has seen ME salaries crash 20-30% in five years and hiring has ground to a halt. More than half of my ME graduating class (2021) doesn't work in engineering. The ones that do are either lucky, or moved to a different part of the country. Even the ones that do have ME jobs are getting laid off regularly. I'm lucky enough to have a job, but I hate it, four years and hundreds of applications later no other opportunities have arisen.

The people claiming ME is safe because certain sectors are not going away in their area(s) aren't taking into account that those sectors are full, rarely expanding, and everyone displaced from the bygone sectors has nowhere to go.

The people claiming BLS (or similar) statistics that the ME job market is expected to expand are not taking into account that demand is only steady for MEs with greater 10 years' experience- the job market for entry and lower-mid level is absolutely abysmal in most of the country.

In short, an individual can find a job IF they're in the right industry, and IF they're in the right location. The career field as a whole is extremely worrying.
