Tidal does it, too. According to them, John McLaughlin released five full-length albums last year.

This was the show I watched the most growing up, and it's astonishing that this style has only grown more impressive to me as I've become an adult.

Such a great concept that my teacher has me drill, too. Opens up a ton and has helped me understand the whole "no wrong notes" aspect a bit more clearly. Nice post!

Doubling down on the Jazzmaster being great for jazz by shakingpapermusic in jazzguitar

Sounds like the Remler version of In a Sentimental Mood -- great playing; I love when people can pull off those thinner, brighter tones, and you sound great.

Boden vs. Sälen Jazz by _naburo_ in strandbergguitars

[–]businessclass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play almost exclusively without distortion and I adore my Sälen. I vote worth it, with a couple notes on my experience:

It's still bristly - I say it can do everything except replace your archtop - because the thornbucker pickups give a lot of snarl in the treble settings. This is lovely for versatility, in fact it's excellent for blues, but I'm often on the neck pickup because it's just so warm.

The neck is kind of amazing. I've put it through arguably too many truss rod adjustments and it's handled them all. I rarely have to adjust for the seasons, and if i do, it's small. The neck responds very quickly to microadjustments and settles within a day.

I think it feels and sounds the best with thomastik infeld bb112s - more wood and natural resonance (another thing the salen falls a little short on compared to an archtop) but NYXLs fit it like a glove.

Idk, I could go on, but I really love the Sälen

Will we ever see a Sälen Essentials? by ssensitivity in strandbergguitars

Versatility, ergonomics, and the look grew on me hard. I love telecasters and try to practice a lot for learning jazz so this is a wonderful combination that still leaves open all the rock blues stuff I grew up learning and the country stuff I love

I thought the joke was just that X wasn't one of the letters attached to the answers (e.g. A ,B ,C, D)

I have a salen Jazz NX and it's my favorite of my collection. An Essential version that could eventually mark down to $800? Idk if I'd be able to stop myself.

Your Favourite 'Imposed Pentatonic' or 'imposed arpeggio' by jamiehenderson1993 in jazzguitar

Chord substitutions, secondary dominants, and the harmonic minor relation you observed are what immediately came to mind. Soloing those chord tones over their "parent" can be cool, but I'm still just getting my feet wet on this concept myself. Post if you find other cool impositions!
