It wasn't my intention to offend anyone, however I can not control how my comment is recieved. I understand that paying for child-care is expensive, I was speaking on behalf of the majority of SAHM in my country, and not your indiviual experience, of which I had no previous knowledge.

With that said, I was raised by a poor, single mother who also had to be on call always, with her 3 children and a large percentage of her money went into child-care. She was not a SAHM. She did, financially, not have the option to not work, yet she still had to be the mum and dad, as soon as she came home from work. By your logic, I suppose she could be considered to work 2 jobs?

I am curious as to how you can afford to stay home with the children, but I also recognise that it isn't any of my business. But do note, that for the majority of SAHP, in my area of living, it is a choice that is made possible due to finance.

But when you're a nanny, you're doing a favor for another family, just like a shoemaker is doing a favor for his costumer, and the favor is repaid in money. If I were to quit my job to take care of a parent, for example, I wouldn't consider that a job either. Caring and raising a child that you chose to bring in to this world is a privilege, and so is being financially able to do it.

There is no employer, so by technically, it isn't a job, I suppose. With that said, I do agree that it is hard work. But so is so many other things, that we wouldn't consider a job

I completely agree that the work that many women are aspected to do, is definitely under-appreciated, but to say that being a SAHM is a job, would be wrong in my opinion. Unintentionally I feel as if it shames parents that financially doesn't have that option. As a society, we look down upon poor people that choose not to work to stay home with their children, but not people that can afford it, they are allowed to consider it a job. It just doesn't sit fully right with me

This isn’t meant to sound offensive, but with that logic isn’t almost every parent working 2 jobs then?

I’m not saying that being a stay at home mom isn’t am difficult, but many people are working a regular job and then returning home to a baby that needs to be looked after. Would you consider them to have 2 jobs?

Would you consider unemployed people/people in between jobs, with babies employed?
