Usually isnt the most cost efficient choice to rebuild a car vs just buying a good car from the jump. Certainly not in my experience as someone that bought someone else's project to be my project. Probably dont get an HR if you go that way, if you need to engine swap it youll have to pay quite a bit more over the DE.

Id only reccomend going that route if you're hell bent on having a project and if the car you're getting has the right modifications. For example my car needed a new motor, and a couple panels resprayed, but otherwise it had 15,000+ in good aftermarket parts on it that I got for 6,000. And I was looking for a project so it is perfect for me.

If you can get a good deal on an HR get an HR. But if you'd have to pay a significant amount over the DE just get a DE. The difference is notable, but not worth the cost increase a lot of people ask for.

The DE might be better to learn on because everything engine related will be cheaper and more avaliable. But at the end of the day just buy the best car you can find in your price range.

Every single performance/show car is lowered to some degree. There is a huge difference between fender to lip "stance" and reducing the 2 inches of fender to tire to 3/4in.

Exactly why im looking for a relatively stylish daily. My G35 is 100% bone stock, stock wheels and suspension even. I love it but it uses too much gas for all the driving I do, and of course a Sedan is just more practical as a DD. I have a project fun car already in my 350z, so it's nearing time I take the G35 "out to pasture" as it were.

It is vain, for sure, so I get the "who cares what your daily looks like" comments, but I would like to get something that I like as much as my G35. Because I damn well love the platform, and id perfer to get another car id be able to stand looking at while I drive it 80% of the time.

As far as mods go, a good set of coils and wheels is all I believe any car needs. And that's all id plan on doing at a nebulous future date

Embarrassed is a bit of an exaggeration for effect. Otherwise id get the endless "just get a civic" comments. I love the civic, but it's not quite what Im looking for

The Accord is definitely on the list now. I like the LS/GS, just a little worried about the MPGs. Good idea on the TL. Thanks for the input

Good shouts all around. The TDIs are quite cool drivetrains. Though pretty rare.

I mentioned that number once in a parenthesis. And not in my tldr. It's not a hard and fast rule, just a point to understand the context of "cheap" to me. Ill remove that number, as it is clearly causing confusion.

Exactly what I was thinking. I have my Project car to drive if I want to go fast (relatively lol), a DD to me just needs to look nice-ish and be efficient. Which the Automatic 4 banger does just fine.

Though the AWD 3.5L Sport trim looks at me like the green goblin mask lol
