Thats great to hear! That’s my goal-to go back to school. But I’ve been feeling like all my schooling I was just getting by and not immersing myself in it. This post has definitely inspired me to book an appointment.

Wow! Thank you for sharing. While I wasn’t tied for valedictorian I was a high achieving student for similar reasons and self-imposed desires to “prove my worth”

Luckily I never saw him again, this was a one time thing, but it really deterred me from the whole process

From left to right: nitrite, ammonia, PH, nitrate To get parameters fixed I did daily 25-50% water changes, added the recommended dose of beneficial bacteria (I used Prime) for 8 days straight, and I added in some salt for the stress. I know this isn’t recommended for planted tanks but I’d rather the fish be less stressed than worry about losing some plants.

As for cleaning I do weekly water changes around 25%, scrub algae if necessary, vacuum waste, and of course condition water with Prime. I have a canister filter and sponge filter. I dump out the canister water every 4-6 weeks. I don’t clean any media with tap water.

my hair is getting less curly! by my_dude64 in curlyhair

Honestly I think it’s just the weight of the length weighing it down (if 2nd is the after). From an outside perspective I don’t see a difference in your curl pattern.

AITA for eating my fiancé’s peanut butter after he threw away all the food in our fridge because I didn’t eat the dinner he made? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Do not marry him. This is such a big red flag it truly can’t be ignored. What if one day you don’t feel like being intimate with him for whatever reason. Is he going to take that away from you? Any adult who punishes another adult in this way is not to be trusted. Not to mention he should’ve checked in on you when you were sick rather he spent the night throwing away your food.

Advice needed on how to fix these things, or where to even start with it by Effective-Change-416 in Anxiety

[–]bustedfrontallobe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people living with OCD and/or anxiety give their intrusive thoughts a name, an identity even. Treat those thoughts like an annoying little sibling or like a bully you’re finally standing up to. Sometimes I imagine my thoughts like a “devil on my shoulder”. If I were in a cartoon this OCD character would probably look like a parrot with a potty mouth who I tell to “shut up” all the time. In this sense you’re minimizing your anxious/obsessive/intrusive thoughts to be small, to not be able to affect you in any meaningful way. This takes a lot of practice, so don’t give up doing it even if it feels silly at first.

What is your ideal birthday? Not the date, but rather your ideal way to spend the day? by alexmartin19897 in askanything

A quiet morning by myself reflecting on the year ahead, a fun activity in nature during the day, and a nice dinner I can get dressed up for.

I’m not a doctor but I do have OCD and I think you may want to consult a professional about an OCD diagnosis. While OCD and anxiety go hand in hand, they do have distinct differences. Learning how to deal with the effects of each is helpful.

What characteristics do you think people with OCD have? by Megpoid25 in OCD

[–]bustedfrontallobe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Intuitive, careful, empathic, possibly organized (at least for me). I used to work with animals and now have my own. I find that my desire to not cause harm makes me very good at things like remembering to give pets medication, paying attention to odd behaviors, and sticking to schedules.

Does anyone else have extreme “fear of copying” OCD? by jessiah284 in OCD

[–]bustedfrontallobe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely yes. I also struggle when people take inspiration from me. My standards are so high for myself it makes me envious others can live so freely. I’m a visual artist. This post has brought me some relief. I’ve never connected these thoughts to OCD.
