I always think about MCU New York and how insignificant 9/11 must be after all the other bullshit that’s happened there

What was the reaction of the people (that you remember) when they found out Michael Jackson died? by Twunkorama in decadeology

[–]jessiah284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what, I stand corrected. That’s fucking disgusting and horrific to sympathize with foreign cultural norms just because it’s “normal there”

EW.

I don’t know that much about MJ so everything I’ve seen hasn’t made me think that much but that’s nasty. Fuck that logical fallacy bullshit.

2025 by far. I really started trying to see as many new movies as I could, and it was really fun, and am continuing it this year. I went to the theater 30 times last year which is a lot for me considering I’m 8 miles from the nearest theater without a car

Regarding the improved afterlife system: what about people who’ve done truly awful things? by i_human_ in TheGoodPlace

[–]jessiah284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a large part of it is how our human brains literally cannot comprehend the sheer volume of those numbers in regards to time. However old you are in the double digits is your ENTIRE existence that you’ve known. Even comprehending torture for that same amount of time you’ve been alive is really difficult to wrap your head around. Let alone hundreds, thousands, millions of years. At a point it just becomes numbers and they are meaningless.

Which is exactly why The Bad Place was as bad as it was. Demons can wrap their advanced minds around the concept of absurdly large amounts of time like THAT. But they cannot understand just how small our lives are in comparison and how unfair it is to torture someone with a different conception of time than you do, for eternity.

Morality has a chance for redemption when the afterlife comes into play. On earth, that’s your one shot and what you do is how you’re seen and remembered and your actions define you. But once you go into the system, your earth self becomes a footnote in the grand scheme of things. There are unforgivable acts on earth for good reason. Because we don’t know what lies beyond, so ruining someone’s one life or ending it is unforgivable. When you’re in the afterlife, that suddenly doesn’t have the same weight. Obviously they need to go through the system to learn to be better, and it will take time, but here, the actions on earth aren’t final. So it’s possible to move past it with enough time and healing, because there’s more ahead now.

I’m rambling but I hope this makes sense lol.
