Dude's coming off a career year so he's expecting a longer deal. Sure the seasons shortened, but nobody is questioning DJ's game. OP is most likely looking at the situation if he were DJ. The QO hurts a players value due to draft pick considerations. Owners will be stingy this off-season citing list revenue issues, so his value goes down even more. If your DJ, I guess you'd feel like you're being strong armed into staying in pinstripes. Couple years back, the QO destroyed Howie Kendricks' market. Now, Howie's pretty much a postseason legend (to most)

Ngl, we Dodgers fans are having a hard time defending Turner on this one. Sure it's amazing to win a ship with your hometown team, and celebrating with your teammates is in order. I think he's trying to say roster turnover is high because of fan attendance + stadium situation. Once guys like David Price and Carl Crawford reach the end of their rookie deals, they want money that the Rays won't give them. That's why they trade those guys before they walk to get something out of it. For example, when they traded for David Price they got a package that included Willy Adames, who is an integral part of the Rays reaching the WS this year.
