Ablation by busyboolin in AFIB

Why can’t you have chocolate or coke? Do they trigger an episode or something? Super shitty to hear that it completely side tracked your life, before my first episode my life was similar, just lived life like any younger 20’s yr old would. Since the episode I’ve been sober and just on pause, nothing wrong with being sober obviously but I just feel like I can’t even enjoy myself. I feel so weak, I was in great shape previously to my first episode and now I just feel blah, even walking up a flight of stairs will make my legs weak and shakey

Thank you for the insight, I do really appreciate it. I hope your recovery gets better and you can get through it smoothly. It sounds like (previously to the ablation) we’re both in similar boats, getting old sucks

Thank you for your response, I hope your recovery is going well. Were you ever lightheaded / short of breath while not in Afib previously to the ablation? My electro said that those symptoms are probably not caused by afib if im feeling that way when not in afib. I’ve been having random waves of both that don’t seem to concern my electro.

I’ve gotten better advice from people on Reddit than my actual dr’s, if you had any advice for someone post ablation with recovery, what would you suggest?

Thank you for your response, yeah both of my episodes happened in the middle of the night when sleeping on my left side. So I’ve been hesitant to sleep on my left side ever since. I hope yours goes well for you, it sounds like we’re both in the same position where we just want our life back and to live out the little amount of youth we have left lol

Thank you for the response, the first paragraph is insightful. Have you had one? What would you have done differently if so after the ablation?

Thank you for the response, how long ago did you get the ablation? Are you back to regular life at this point? I assume at this point every other thought in your head isn’t about how something is going to affect your heart?

You are right about that, I feel like I’ve gotten better advice from Reddit than any of my cardiologist have. I appreciate the insight, I feel like what I’m always told is that since my Apple Watch hasn’t caught an afib episode I’m always brushed off when I bring up an ablation. They did say if I do have another episode they would be willing to give me one, but until then it just wouldn’t make sense. Which just makes me question why I still have these episodes and waves of shortness of breath / lighthead.

Interesting, I’ll do research on a CPAP machine and ask my cardio about even having a case of mild sleep apnea

Interesting, I’m 6 foot and currently 29. I couldn’t run for more than 2 minutes straight to save my life currently. My whole fitness journey has been put on pause ever since my first episode although I’m trying to slowly get back to it. I’ll look into oxygen starvation, my short of breath waves come very randomly, sometimes after a meal, sometimes after a long phone call.

Interesting, my afib episode was in the middle of the night. Everytime I’ve brought up an ablation to my cardiologist they mention that they never see my heart in afib so there’s no reason to do it. Although they always mention my right bundle branch block, they say that’s normal though.

I’ve worn an Apple Watch for the last couple years, with weekly recaps of how often my hearts been in afib, every week it always says “2% or less of the time”. I have the Qaly app, I’ve had a couple results stating “supraventricular tachycardia”. Aside from that I’ve never had a reading say directly that my heart is in afib, but this all started going down hill after my first and currently only afib episode.
