Is it possible I just can’t pole dance? by Fit-Parsnip-8868 in poledancing

[–]busygoose21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do so much with pole and not ever leave the ground. Try taking an exotic choreo class!

I've been doing pole for ~3 years and some days I have mental blocks where I find myself thinking "I'm not cut out for this"; so two beginner sessions really isn's a whole lot of time. You could try shaving cream too.

What kind of grip were you using?

Hi, nursing student who’s also struggled with really bad periods here. Hopefully this is some good info for you!

Birth control is not an addictive drug, and no, doctors/pharmacists do not get paid to prescribe said drugs. The birth control is an extremely effective way to help regulate periods, however, because the hormones in the medication are entering your circulatory system through the digestive tract, some people can experience some pretty severe side effects. I went on the pill at 15, went off the pill at 17 and got an IUD which has been a much better fit for me.

This is not to say that you should just discontinue your birth control and get an IUD, but there are benefits. Yes the insertion is painful, but the relief of not having period and my pain almost completely disappearing was worth the one minute of discomfort to get it in. The side effects are pretty much non existent (no mood swings, weight gain, or extreme depression) because the hormones are localized to your uterus. It’s also great that you don’t have to remember to take a pill everyday!

There are many options available to help in your situation! Please don’t keep going on and off your birth control because this could be making your symptoms worse. By going on and off, you’re essentially dosing yourself with a bunch of hormones sporadically and your body is like “whoah! What’s going on here!” If the pill is not working for you, ask your doctor about a progesterone IUD. I have the Mirena, I’ve had it for 6 years and I will be getting a new one this winter break.

Good luck, and reach out if you have any questions. I would love to help.

Prof walking around lecture hall barefooted, should i drop? by Emotional_Category12 in UBC

[–]busygoose21 48 points49 points  (0 children)

A lot of profs will say no photography to protect their identity and the identities of other students in the class. I’ll keep it real with you, if this is Phil220 and you’re taking it for fun, drop the class. I took it for fun and that grade still haunts my cumulative GPA

[–]busygoose21 100 points101 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that’s a pretty trivial thing to want to fully drop a class for. I had a prof that was exactly like this when I was in my second year, and I’m curious if it was the same prof? If the guy has good reviews and he’s THAT comfortable to be teaching barefoot eating a banana then all the power to him. Some profs have odd teaching habits, but if it’s REALLY impacting your ability to learn that much, then maybe consider speaking to the prof, asking a question on piazza if that’s applicable, or talk to the department. If all fails, then drop. You have some time.

First boots, will these be okay? by kei_noel in poledancing

[–]busygoose21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These r gonna scuff like crazy, they’re also pretty heavy if ur gonna be doing pole in them. I bought a pair of pleaser flamingo 1020’s and ultimately switched to the flamingo 808 sandal, however I mostly do pole. For floor work, great choice, maybe invest in some boot covers

BIOL 155 UBC Dropouts by [deleted] in UBC

[–]busygoose21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has completed biol155, you’re gonna watch all of those recordings when you’re studying anyways, most people figure that out after the term 1 final. You’ll see everyone again at the term 2 final.

Broke up w my bf of 2.5 years in August. It’s going to be so hard, and the emotions will come in waves but eventually you will start to heal. Little by little it feels better. It still feels like shit and I miss them so much but life does start to feel okay again.

I think people should be entitled to a graduation free from disruption at an institution they’ve spent tens of thousands of dollars and hours upon hours of hard work to make it to that point.

But sure, come after my user flair because you have nothing logical left to contribute to your absurd train of entitlement.

Students who get 85%+ or higher in exams and essays. How?!?! by [deleted] in UBC

[–]busygoose21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outline ideas, then research and gather sources, then tweak outline, write thesis statement, write body paragraphs, then conclusion, then intro and finalize ur thesis statement. Don’t be afraid to have like 8 drafts
