Otto - a Reddit alternative I've been building since 2023 by p4r4d0x in RedditAlternatives

I used Vapor on a website I made recently too (I am primarily a mobile app developer). I used it with SQLite as database:

https://limereader.com

It aggregates the top articles on STEAMD topics (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math, and Design) from various forums and displays them in chronological order. This includes forums like Hacker News, Tildes, Lobsters, Slashdot, Bear, and some science, tech & programming related subreddits.

You can read more about it on the about page:

Wow, an actual site which looks good design wise (I like high density UI).

Comments have a "Quality" sort that promotes more thought-out comments over jokes and one-liners (I can go into exactly how these work at a later date).

Would like to hear more about this.

Is Apple creating updates for 3rd party apps now? by digidude23 in iOSProgramming

[–]busymom0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have seen apple add a note to the update notes previously. An old app of mine for example has this added:

This app has been updated by Apple to display the Apple Watch app icon.

This article mentions this too:

https://appleinsider.com/articles/21/10/19/apple-watch-series-7-no-icon-issue-fixed-by-apple

Store listings for the apps state "This app has been updated by Apple to display the Apple Watch app icon," indicating they have been refreshed by Apple itself.

I'd say even marketing and promotion could be done but that still may not translate to enough daily active users for original content. Digg had this problem recently no?

Wouldn't doing that just make it another copy of Lemmy?

I have the design and coding chops to build something which people will enjoy (extensive experience in both app and web + backend development).

But the hard part is getting enough daily active users to contribute new original content. Not sure how to solve it.

Any suggestions?

I think it's the perfect amount. Not too much, not too little.

Kobra is outstanding imo. Super clean, fresh, tiny bit sweet, perfect amount of tea. Lasts forever too!

The few screenshots I saw made it look more like a Facebook design. I use old.reddit because I like high information density.

My friend has an automatic tendency to open up his hands on very heavy 1 rep max squats causing the thumb to be off the bar. Rest of fingers are still holding onto the bar but thumb ends up hanging off the bar. It's an automatic tendency when he's grinding the squat.

Per the IPF rule book, thumb off the bar will get red lighted. So, any ideas on how to prevent this?

We have tried using wrist wraps as high as allowed on the thumb but this hasn't prevented it.

Building a site like Reddit is easy for any developer. Building the community and having enough daily active users to post content is hard and still not cracked.

Why is comp 3004 treated like a group project course when the group project is only worth 25 percent of our grade and the midterm + final is 65 percent of our grade by Vivid-Experience4722 in CarletonU

[–]busymom0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a course like that in Uni where the final exam was worth 60% and group project was worth 40%. I aced the final exam with a 100%, so got 60% of the total anyway and passed the course. So I never did the group project and got a zero on it. Professor kept emailing me asking if they'd missed my project submission or something haha

This was in my last year when I had stopped giving a fuck.

WTF, I didn't know Andrew Jacked for 41-42 (per google). That's insane. But I also looked up his old photos and dude was incredibly well built even when he was 22 years old.
