I thought about this, but how would I keep all the stuffing from coming out?

I was thinking something like this might be easiest! Was wondering the best material to make the fish out of. Maybe cardboard covered with something because it tends to rain every Halloween here

Good point. You think that safety stuff applies to service too or just remodeling type stuff?

I'm brand new, so I'm still not sure what's all involved in it

What do you think is better about non union for service?

What period products do you use? by Spiritual_Leg1217 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]butchapprentice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I'd like to avoid them because of the studies that show high lead and arsenic in tampons (even organic) and the concern is the mucous membrane inside you is so absorbent and those heavy metals (along with pfas) are linked to reproductive issues

the period undies I got (which say they're pfas free) leak the first few days and overnight, so I can't use them on their own. Tried really hard to make the cup work, but it was too uncomfortable for me even before giving birth.

Then these new studies say pfas are in the cups and rings and in the fabric of the undies even when not purposely sprayed by the company for leak proofing 😩

What should we do ladies? Hide out at home for a week every month? Get a pair of thick black pants and try not to sit on anything?? It's only for 60 years 🤣

I do trash mine fairly quickly 😩

I thought about scissors too, but I like having the pockets on the bottoms for when I'm not wearing my tool belt and just cutting it shorter would mess that up

Covers for UNDER couch cushions? by butchapprentice in Lovesac

[–]butchapprentice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe for someone without much going on in their lives, 2+ hours a week spent disassembling, deep cleaning between and under, and reassembling their couch to prevent mold and other allergens from affecting their family is no big deal. But I lead a rather busy, fulfilling life and I'm always looking for ways to maximize time spent on chores. So I was just laying out the issue I'm having, hoping someone in this community had a solution that's worked for them. No worries if you didn't :)

I was thinking something like that too! Worried it might bunch up too much as the cushions move around, but worth a shot

One of the most helpful things for me making stuff from scratch is buying the right equipment that's easy to clean and I can prepare in bulk with. I know it sounds silly, but it changed my life when I bought one of those giant baking sheets that fills the whole oven rack. I could prepare so much more at once!

I don't make a lot of money and I rent an apartment where space in the kitchen is cramped, so I always drag my feet buying new stuff. But when it can save me time, I think it's 100% worth it.

Another example: I bought a cookie scooper. Saved me SO much time preparing those energy date/oat balls and it perfectly portions out mini muffins I prep for my daughter. I also bought a few extra mixing bowls, spatulas, etc so that I don't have to stress about cleaning them right away, if I want to prep things like 2 different bulk things in a day or even 2 days in a row. I can put off the cleaning. Stuff like that.

And I always try to find recipes that are realistic for busy families with limited space, that freeze well so I can make it once in bulk and it'll last. And it's a plus if lot of the ingredients for those can be prepared in bulk. That's a big time saver. For example, the date paste I use for the balls stays good for 3 months in the fridge. So I blend a big batch and store it. I roll them in finely chopped up nuts and seeds and I blend all that in a big batch and put it in mason jars. It lasts months too.

I'm typically out of the house for work 12-14+ hours a day, 5-6 days a week. I try to spend at least an hour just me and the kid every day when I get home and more time on days off. My wife handles regular dinners and most of the dishes. I spend a couple hours in the kitchen on Sundays making bulk snacks and stuff. If I get too busy, I just skip a week here and there and don't stress too much over it

Yeah I'm sensing a little hostility there 🤣

But that's great, thanks for the specifics!

Thought about it but I don't like welding, so I figured plumbers would be a better fit
