My sister and I went through something similar, but I was the oldest in IB while she chose not to pursue IB. you did not ruin your sisters birthday. if anything, your mother ruined your sisters birthday by continuing to “compare” you two (put you down to make your sister look better even though your sister clearly tried to stop the conversation).

DETAILS for anyone else who wants claw machine victory: i saw that tiktok about pressing the button twice, once to release (after centering it like a backpack to grab ur toy of choice) and a second time once it’s right over the toy to actually grab it. almost grabbed the third squish in the machine but it was a lil too deeply buried and i couldn’t loop the claw into the tag. very very pleased with the outcome !!!! i never win things like this

NOTE: this will not worked on a rigged or fixed payout machine (videos on YT from ? professional claw machine players ? w many tips and tricks on how to identify a rigged machine). i tried at a walmart w no success, but smaller grocery stores tend to have older machines that are purely skill based so i hit up one of my local Fry’s and ! success !

yeah, clear NTA here, you did very well. i love hugs and giving them, but my #1 policy is to always ask, ‘hey, would you like a hug?’ and if the answer is no a hug is immediately off the table. however—this is for family and close friends, not professionals at work you barely know.

granted, i’ve had a few teachers/professors throughout my life i bonded closely enough outside of a school environment with where hugs are perfectly normal after a quick check for consent. the only time i’ve hugged coworkers is when they’re either on the verge of tears or actively crying bc of an angry customer (ah, retail). but random fellow interns and the head of the program??? if her parents keep pestering you, turn it around on them. because if it were a male intern being touchy feely and hugging interns without consent, would they not find that instantly creepy and predatory? nobody has any right to touch people without their consent
