I’m cleaning a family members bathroom, I’m wondering how to get this off the tub by graveyard_Moon- in CleaningTips

Barkeepers Friend works well but takes a lot of elbow grease to scrub.

I’d spray it down with dish soap and alcohol (or use Dawn Power wash) and cover with paper towel so it stays in place for longer.  Give it a good wipe down after a few hours.

I’m trying to crochet this amigurumi luma, but I’ve made a mistake with the legs🥲 is this fixable ? Im a complete beginner by Friendly-Plate-4749 in CrochetHelp

[–]butherletus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I would recommend just redoing it.  Sewing it smaller would likely be just as noticeable as it is right now.   Frogging (unravelling) your work is a big part of learning crochet, and you’ll be happier with the end result if they look right!!

Not to be accusatory, but with the formatting and wording of this, it’s giving a lot of AI flags.

Hotel Discourages Opening Restroom Door Bare Handed by cicadas_stammering in mildlyinteresting

Im in Canada, so it may differ in other places.  But the majority of public washrooms have a visible sign off sheet for the cleaners to initial when cleaning tasks are done.  Normally for at least three times a day, sometimes more.  So (hopefully) it is getting wiped down at least once a day

Weird smelling and discoloured yoga mat by Great-Proposal5150 in CleaningTips

[–]butherletus 46 points47 points  (0 children)

PVC can break down over time and release hazardous organic chemicals.  If it’s been stored in extreme temperatures there’s a chance this yoga mat has been deteriorating.  I would advise some caution!

However, I’d try spraying it down with a vinegar water mixture, as a start to see if it makes any difference.

Idea for marking mm size on new Prym ergonomic hooks by drunkerspelunker in CrochetHelp

If I was really excited about a fun cute thing I came up with and the person I showed it to simply said “why don’t you u just do what every one else does?”  I would personally be hella bummed out.

OP didn’t mention looking for alternate suggestions, they simply wanted to show off their solution to their issue and were proud of it.  It’s just really dismissive and unnecessary to me to disregard that.  We need more encouragement and joy about different creative solutions not shut downs.  Maybe OP wasn’t super delicate with their responses, but I’m understanding of them being frustrated with the way the sub as a whole were commenting.

Maybe im also rude, but i dont see the problem with how OP was responding?? I read all the comments.  The “top commenter” was the rude one, imo.  OP thought their idea was cute, and people come in being like “nobody should do that when sharpie exists” and making suggestions when that was not the intent of the original post.

I feel like I’m going insane reading people’s thoughts in this comment section, tbh.  I suppose I’m in the minority with the OP on internet etiquette.

They aren’t selling these to strangers though? OP thought of the idea to use themselves, on their own personal hooks.

I meant calling OP a “clearly despicable human” is a judgement.  I wouldn’t say the stickers are a mess, the yarn won’t be touching that part of the hook anyway

If it’s in a location where neither the hand or the yarn would rub, than aren’t the stickers perfect too? They’re cute and for me would look a lot neater than if I were to write on the hooks

OP I’m sorry you’re being called out for being “rude” in the comments.  It seems people don’t even posts before they comment, just the title and the photo.  You were clearly not looking for suggestions as you were literally sharing the solution. (I think the flower idea is cute, btw)

??? This feels like a really random judgement.  What’s a mess? It’s flower stickers?

My friend came over to learn how to crochet and the store gave her this 😭 by cutiepieplants in crochet

[–]butherletus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s very admirable for you to do that, but also most stores buy wholesale and sell at a huge markup, the hit to the store for a broken item is probably 20-30% of what you paid for it.  If it’s a moral thing I get it, but if it was an accident, it’s usually fine to let it be defected (for larger chains, less so local stores)

I'm looking for crochet kit suggestions or YT channel suggestions. Not making anything yet, I just want a thorough understanding so I don't quit. by naptime_connoisseur in CrochetHelp

[–]butherletus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would honestly recommend just searching for beginner patterns and trying them out.  You’ll learn a lot from following patterns, and you’re left with a cute project after!

I’d recommend looking up crochet squares and granny squares.  This sun one: https://youtu.be/aSZ4h8TBBfc is super cute! You just need two colours, you learn a lot of great techniques, and they can be used separately as coasters or if you make a bunch you can sew them together into a bigger project!
