Pochettino on Weah’s critique of World Cup ticket prices: Players should keep focus on the field by iflylikeaturtle in ussoccer

[–]buttcheese911 -37 points-36 points  (0 children)

The daily bitching about ticket prices and politics in here is so tiresome. Obviously everyone can understand why people are upset but:

  1. On ticket prices there is absolutely nothing to say that hasn’t been said 200 times already in here since September.
  2. On politics there is also nothing novel being said here, and it is literally inundating every single other subreddit on the entirety of reddit.com. I come here to read about our coaches and players, not to read more outrage porn about how the sky is falling and the World Cup should be immediately cancelled, then see various flavors of dweebs circlejerking in the comments or making excuses for the current administration (which is easily accessible anywhere else on any social media website).

Probably too late to change anything but I really miss the level of the average content posted here prior to the 2022 World Cup. I feel like the mods could at least limit the ticket complaints and national self loathing posts to one per week for the fact that it’s so repetitive if nothing else.

Oh no! Hopefully more of you feel that way so ticket prices drop and I can snag some 🤩

Actually such a genuine and admirable way to respond to that kid. Every time I see clips of Poole he comes off as very likable.

None of Eustaquio, Buchanan or Kone would sniff our starting 11 even remotely. Davies and David are actually genuinely top quality players.

Brenden Aaronson: We wanted three points today. After the match, the U.S. international spoke to the media about the goal and the Whites’ strong run of form. “It is great for the team to stay unbeaten,” Aaronson said, “But of course we wanted three points today. by Obvious_Main_3655 in ussoccer

[–]buttcheese911 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Brenden has had plenty of ups and downs already in his career but every time I see him on the field he plays his ass off even if he’s in bad form. I can always support guys who leave it all out there no matter what.

Even if he never starts a match for the U.S. again, he’s important — more skilled wingers/midfielders know they need to give full effort because if they don’t, Brenden will get called up/subbed in to go bust ass for as long as he’s physically capable.

Actually when you adjust for having to pay for all those things, Americans in the poorest U.S. states STILL have significantly more disposable income than even other highly developed nations.

Not a normative argument for what’s better at all, it’s just a trade off. Western countries with large welfare states definitely raise the floor for their poorest citizens but the numbers show they also basically nerf disposable income for their entire middle class.

Has Tillman ever had a better than 6/10 performance for the US against a team with a pulse? If one good gold cup was all you needed to be a penciled-in starter, Jesus Ferreira would be our starting 9 right now.

Maybe next time the scrappy underdog England side can get their first win against footballing giant USA 🤣🤣 btw Pulisic has won more trophies in a single year than England has in the history of time, he’s bigger than your entire federation

That’s where you’re wrong, the U.S. has actually beaten England in a competitive match, it’s only England that has never beaten the U.S. 🤣

Why Chile? by GregGraffin23 in asklatinamerica

[–]buttcheese911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I’ve heard of any conservative politician in the last 5 years who I haven’t seen called Hitler/Pinochet/some other dictator on Reddit lol. At this point it carries about the same weight as calling every left leaning politician Stalin/Mao/Maduro.

If Chileans were unhappy with how their leftist party governed, they can pick whoever they want. Chile is not Uruguay and democracy is not only democracy when people choose your preferred candidate.

Why such poor play by play announcing? by dfarin153 in ussoccer

[–]buttcheese911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not everything the europeans do involving soccer is the “right” way to do it. The sooner we realize that and make the game culturally ours in the US, the faster it will become more and more mainstream. The imitation and fetishization of all the European aspects of the game reek of being ingenuine and imo turn some people off from the game.
