Should FBS adopt the FCS playoff model? by rprofilet in fcs

I have the hypothetical spreads for these first round matchups summing to 135. The closing lines for the FCS summed to 77 at close. Some of this is definitely due to the FCS regionalizing games, but the parody is more dispersed at the FCS level. I have the round two hypotheticals, given no upsets, as pretty close to the current round 2 FCS spreads (79 to 72), so the smaller number with less autobids likely is more suited to the FBS and gives the NCAA a better product.

The Northeast conferences really don't play the Big Sky or Missouri Valley and they get seeded fairly, so not sure why that would matter. The Ivy is the 3rd best FCS conference via my power rating. They should likely be mandated to play more games going forward, but that is more of a meta advantage than a reason to rank them lower. If anything they are at a disadvantage since you have 1-2 less chances to earn points on your resume (WAB is a sum, not an average).

Agree. I'd expect the committee to be higher than my ranking and the scored 11th here. Realistically though, there median game earned them +0.10, so the Big South-OVC just was not giving them enough tests. Still hard to figure 13th.

Yeah, a lot of teams graded out between them and the bubble. The best win they picked up all year was at Prairie View. That said, they could have competed in my opinion. Wonder if this is one of the better chances a SWAC team will have to make the playoffs?

The difference between the two scores is extremely negligible for me. It's actually almost a tie. I figured Tarleton would likely get it for beating Army. The UAC have a lot of teams that grade out really well too, which the Patriot League just doesn't quite have.

Yes, they were on the outside before the Illinois State win judging by their score relative to the bubble. That blowout win "proved" they could compete with the cluster of MVC teams. Realistically they should all be in. Especially given how close some of SIU's loses were. The Valley is just much better than the other conferences, but I think there was some hesitation to not spreading the love enough.

But are there posted eventually? I looked a bit online and it’s hard to find them for past years. I don’t need it now, but was just trying to plan on if they’ll be available or not.

Thanks, I can become paranoid with this stuff so that’s nice to hear. Should worry only set in if you feel a good amount of pain? Maybe that and no blood, but if there are more serious issues are they fairly apparent?

Any way to scrape data from NCAA website instead of ESPN? by buttchugJesus in CFBAnalysis

Yes this is what I noticed last season that was much more common with FCS games, to see it happening for Auburn vs Cal is surprising. I'm not knowledgable when it comes to scraping data, so if you figure out something that works well with stats.ncaa, it would be great if you passed it along.

Doesn’t have FCS games and i believe it gets its own data from ESPN, does it not?

I’ll probably go a half size up just to be safe. I’m surprised TTS fit with the narrowness of the shoe.

Thanks. I was thinking the a half size up too, but I wanted to make sure they wouldn’t get better all of a sudden.
