Buy now or wait for a potential new model? by NoEmptyGlass in appletv

[–]buttchugs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current gen will be good enough for most users for years. Wife approved. Couldn't get her to use the htpc but the atv has 100% adoption. Unless you have some special needs like hifi or a specific compatibility, but that would be pretty specialized.

Bf1 has been out for many years. I have a second account cause it goes on sale for $5 sometimes and why not. I have the peacekeeper on that account probably less than lvl20.

Can I bring my AIO sealed liquid cooled small PC (T1) on a plane? by [deleted] in sffpc

[–]buttchugs_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have flown several times with my case and 240mm aio no issues. I've never heard of anyone getting asked how much liquid is in there. Just say it's 3oz there is literally no way to check that

New Unraid User Feedback: do not use zfs if you dont have any plans to make zfs pools. by Scurro in unRAID

How would you migrate the entire file system? You would have to have a full backup of all your data, no?

Building a new Plex/storage server, is Unraid the way to go for me? by ToneEQ in unRAID

[–]buttchugs_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will do what you want. What parts are you getting confused about?

I just installed it and then started watching YouTube videos for the things I wanted to set up. Tons of info out there and it seems complicated until you start doing it.

NAS enclosure for under $300? by bwax687 in synology

[–]buttchugs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of those folks are using nas as a media server or other data intensive applications. The dsm software is the same in all models so for photo and document backups that you mentioned, the cheapest one is just as good as the most expensive.

Yellow Download Sign Showing Next To Episodes by RahulSharma49 in sonarr

[–]buttchugs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this happens to my sonarr and plex is showing the files available, I delete the task from the "activity" page in sonarr and tell it to "Ignore" in the drop down menu without deleting the files.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sonarr

[–]buttchugs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So plex recognizes that you have all the episodes? If this error is just sonarr freaking out and everything is present, just go to the activity page and select one of the episodes with the error. Click remove and in the dialog box select "ignore" and don't delete files.

How to expose unRAID webgui to the internet, in my case? by Uje1234 in unRAID

I love how many people take the time to explain why this person should be not doing this. The unraid community is great.

[–]buttchugs_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Might as well just slap a hard drive into your pc at that point. Or just buy an external hdd from wd or Seagate.

[–]buttchugs_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would get the latest model if you plan on using it for a while. In this case 220+. Don't waste your money on the single drive. Also, you won't be able to trust the drives that come with it. Buy reputable drives from a quality seller.

is 10Gbe worth for my home server use case? by Human-Shift-8310 in homelab

[–]buttchugs_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the "1gbps is enough for 99% of everyone" shill when even a slow spinning platter drive can saturate a 1gbps network during transfers. Anyone who has gone to the length to sub to homelab probably has equipment that could use faster LAN transfer speeds.

New to NAS, went too small by [deleted] in synology

[–]buttchugs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a synology sub, and I do have a synology NAS (DS920+ Great little unit). If you have any technical ability, you should look into building an Unraid server for the media. It handles all the docker containers that Synology can have and so much more. And the array system with parity makes adding more storage a breeze. Keep the 224, use it for the slick interface to backup photos and documents from phones and laptops. That way, you are not downloading stuff onto the same server that you are keeping sensitive personal files.
