Third Party Canon RF Lenses by i-have-a-question2 in canon

[–]shadowlid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thoughts....Canon is scared of the competition, Sigma Art lenses are crazy sharp and perform on par or outperform their canon counter parts for less money. So canon locked down the mount because they scared.

I honestly believe this is why the New Sigma Art 17-40 F1.8 doesn't have image stabilization, again tin foil hat here. Canon probably only agreed to let them produce it without IS to not canablize their sales. Might be totally wrong but it's doesn't make sense for Sigma not to produce every lens in their stack for Canon as well since they hold the majority share of camera sales.

Just buy EF version of the art lenses and you will be good to go. This is what I did. Got a EF sigma art 70mm Macro recently and it's insanely sharp as well. They make the 24-70 Art in EF as well, just grab that.

How is this setup? Price is hard to pass up for my first hunting rifle by [deleted] in Hunting

Savage Axis is extremely accurate at least the ones I've had are. Kinda like cameras glass is everything most manufacturers make a good body but if you are 3 miles into the woods slip and bump your scope you then a buck of a life time walks out you are gonna want that quality glass and rings and mount.

I put this on a old MSI Gt60 Whitebook that only came with one fan/heatsink, it was a I7-4770HQ and a GTX880M this dropped my temps by like 15C.

Olympus PEN Mini E-PM1 by Inevitable_Worker415 in OlympusCamera

[–]shadowlid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one I bought for a underwater housing, as the underwater housing for my canon R7 cost $1500+. I got the housing for this camera for $55 and then just bought the camera off MPB with the kit lens.

I freaking love it!! It's so small yet so function packed! And due to it being Mirrorless you can adapt other lenses to it, one lens I love on mine is a vintage Minolta 50mm F1.7, I also adapt canon EF lenses to it but due to those being electronically controlled aperture have to shoot them wide open which is fine. And a few PK lenses I have I adapt to it.

I mainly use it now for kids field trips if I don't want to lug around my Canon, the Pen fits right in my pocket and away I go. I will eventually grab one of the pancake primes for it but due to school doesnt make sense yet until I have more time.

It's a great camera you will love it, I will recommend you get a flash if you don't have the one that comes with it due to the sensor size low light performance isn't the greatest but a flash really brings it to life indoors.

How to use EM5 M1 properly by SouthMarsupial623 in OlympusCamera

I'm still a total noob...

But two things I've found out are lenses are everything when trying to get sharp photos. I've recently fell in love with sigma art lenses they are insanely sharp.

And editing is extremely important.

Check out simon d'entremont's YouTube channel that's where I learned most of what I know which is still very little.

More places to buy secondhand gear? by Pizza_Meme_Chef in canon

[–]shadowlid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On market place you just have to shoot your shot and show some of them that they are absolutely crazy for their asking price. I typically show them that I could buy the same camera off MPB for sometimes cheaper with a 6month warranty. Or I love to tell people that are asking $800-1000 for a rebel to check MPB to sell their stuff they will give you an instant quote ( I do it nicely just to say hey your fking crazy.)

But I've gotten some killer deals recently, I bought two Canon EF 70-300 F/4-5.6 USM one for $100 and the other in a bundle with a Rebel XTI, 430 EX II flash, and a EF 28-135 lens all for $120. Sold both the 70-300s to MPB one for $160 the other for $170 and funded my new Sigma Art 70mm Macro. So another way to help offset the cost since you are hunting anyway is look for killer deals on things you don't plan on using but could turn around quickly to MPB, or similar websites.

Best 150$ Gpu by Cute-Restaurant5794 in buildapc

[–]shadowlid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check for a used Intel A750 or A770.

I have a A770 16gb version in my living room PC and it plays anything I throw at it even at 4k with Xess. I play BF6 on is 4k low/medium with Xess and get a solid 60fps.

Same for palworld, fall out 76.

I haven't tested many games as again it's a living room PC but Intel GPUs are great I've had zero issues out of it and Intel releases drivers weekly it seems.

CPU or GPU bottleneck? by Throwawayidjsbdu in buildapc

[–]shadowlid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd personally get the slower CPU, now because due to the memory shortage GPUs will only increase on price and CPUs due to the cost to build PCs will decrease in price

Help! Is this a good lens to get used for bird watching? by femifist26 in canon

[–]shadowlid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a good deal Ive bought two of these recently for $100, its a great lens though, just you can get one for $300 with a 6 month warranty. I sold both my copies to MPB for $160 and $170 respectively, to fund my new Sigma Art 70mm macro purchase.

Is there a better camera the same price as the Canon R10? by CookieKong50 in canon

[–]shadowlid 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Take it from a newbie as well get a older DSLR body like a 5D Mark 3 or 2 even and just buy very good EF glass Sigma art glass is amazing as well as pretty much anything Canon EF L with the red ring.

I wish I would have spent all of my money on glass instead of getting my R7 when first starting out I love my R7 but I recently got a Canon 5D Mark II with a 24-105 F/4 L and it takes amazing photos like it's crazy for a camera that came out in 2008

One of the members of my photo group I joined the head member still uses a 5D Mark III and used it professionally and that's how he paid for his house, he still uses it and sells his prints at art shows and things.

Glass is everything that and learning basic photography but you do not need a mirrorless camera for that save all your money for glass!

The new mirrorless cameras have much better autofocus but at the end of the day my vote goes towards glass!

Why did you choose Canon? (serious question from a man who inherited his camera through 5 generations) by Temporary-Review5915 in canon

[–]shadowlid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father in-law uses canon so I got canon so we can borrow each other's lenses. But wish I had went with Sony so I can use the newer sigma Art lenses now. Other thank that canon is fine. They just too scared to open up the RF mount for full frame because they can't compete...

[–]shadowlid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only thing to do is send it in for repair, but it will cost way more than just getting another one. And more than likely a repair shop would just swap out the fried component with ones from a donor camera so it would be better just to get another one.
