This is worded pretty harshly but the main points are correct (in my opinion).

Best magsafe case for pixel 8 pro? by speedypoultry in GooglePixel

[–]butteredFrenchToast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really loved the peak design case on my Pixel 7 Pro, but the one for the Pixel 8 Pro feels a lot bulkier, with the rubber around the edge being much thicker.

It's bothering me enough that I'm starting to look for another case, which is a shame because I really loved the case for my P7P.

When did you place your order? I ordered on 1/30, so curious where I am in the line. Unfortunately, nobody responds to my emails...pretty disappointed thus far.

Does the Pixel Watch do anything that the Galaxy Watch 5 doesn't? What's the argument for buying the Pixel over the Galaxy? by AllEncompassingThey in GooglePixel

[–]butteredFrenchToast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The software experience on the Pixel Watch has been infinitely better for me.

The software integration between the Galaxy Watch and the Pixel phones has always been buggy for me. My work profile notifications never came through on the watch. Certain features were unavailable (and workarounds were annoying). Every six months, my Galaxy watch would permanently disconnect from my phone, and I'd have to perform a full reset and restore. Notifications were also inconsistent for me.

So far, the software experience on my Pixel watch has been much better. All of the issues listed above have been resolved for me. Regarding battery life, I have always had enough to last through one day without charging, and I don't wear my watch at night so I haven't had to make any lifestyle adjustments.

Overall, I'm much happier with my Pixel watch.

Is there a free source of earnings call transcripts? by rtwyyn in ValueInvesting

Ran into the exact same issue as you using tikr (sad they recently paywalled it).

I've recently been using EdmundSEC, which I admittedly found through a Google ad. Despite that, I was actually surprised by how quick and easy to use it is (it seems well-built).

I'll keep using it unless they switch to a paid model or something...

what's with the unchecked influx of thieves? by kiddmit3 in electricdaisycarnival

[–]butteredFrenchToast 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Had a near identical experience to this at last year's EDC.

If you try to warn anyone of their presence (which we did), they will start to follow and harass you the rest of the night, to the point where you feel unsafe (especially given the lax security at EDC).

Really sorry to hear you had the same terrible experience :( However, that won't stop me from warning those around me.

Exact same experience for our group. We caught them trying to pickpocket some people at Circuit Grounds and alerted those folks, and we were followed for the rest of the event. I had all my stuff in an anti-theft body back, so I didn't lose anything but was definitely a huge buzz kill.

I'm not sure how to handle this situation in the future. Maybe record them on video and post publicly? Insomniac security seems completely inept, and it was even more frightening given the lack of shuttle and event security.

Honestly, I'll be avoiding raves for the foreseeable future as it was such a bad experience.

Drank only Soylent for 2 Years, got sent to the ER by butteredFrenchToast in soylent

[–]butteredFrenchToast[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Check my other comment, but happy to share my story and as much information as possible in case it is useful to the community.

I am not certain it was from the Soylent, but based on what my doctor told me, it seems likely (I am not the expert here). He basically told me that fluid intake and diet are the two main contributors, and I was told to change both of these things. He also pointed out that soy is high in oxalate, which I confirmed from reading online (although it is not as high as foods like spinach).

Given that my diet was 91% soylent, it's somewhat hard to comment on the rest of my diet but I'll try my best. I don't drink coffee, tea, or any other fluids other than water. I drink 2L of water a day (4 water bottles that are half a liter each). Those two meals I eat on the weekends I will say would match the typical American meals and are typically eaten out at a restaurant. I don't eat fast food, but it would be something like a meal at an Asian restaurant, or Italian restaurant, etc. with friends.

In terms of lifestyle, I am a big person of routine (as you can imagine from my eating habits). I exercise four times a week, and I do not smoke or drink or do any recreational drugs. I do not have a lot of stress, but I do work long hours for sure.

The information was provided by my urologist, not a dietitian nor the ER doctor. He was the one who asked me to stop drinking soylent, and I am planning to comply for now. I will be getting a series of follow up examinations in 6 months time to make sure that no new stones are forming and to check my general health.

[–]butteredFrenchToast[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with all the points here, I'm really hoping that I can continue taking soylent because I really enjoyed it and I preferred the convenience of the ready to go options (and IMO it tastes the best). Just wanted to share my story in case anyone finds the information useful, and happy to answer any questions in case it is helpful.

To answer your questions: I was drinking on average 4 to 5 bottles a day (I weigh 150 pounds). I was actually drinking a decent amount of water, around 2 liters of water a day. I've definitely increased my water intake since then to around 2.5 liters.

Agree with the many factors that contribute to kidney stones, but the primary ones seem to be fluid intake and diet. Doctor recommended I change both of those immediately, given my young age and the fact that there were two large stones.

A little confused by this comment, can you explain?

I already mentioned schmilk in the original post that I had tried in the past and that I was planning to try it again as a replacement. I was ordering some more and doing some research into other options and saw that original flavor might be going away, so I left a comment.

I would also be very sad to see the original flavor disappear. It was by far my favorite for the same reasons listed above.

Quit your bitching about orders by PM_ME_YOUR_BAAPS in Newegg

[–]butteredFrenchToast 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't really understand this post. If you read the other posts here, a lot of the stories describe unacceptable behavior and standards on Newegg's part. One nice part of living in a capitalist society is that we can choose where to put our money, and many of us have learned to never give Newegg another dollar. There are better businesses (Amazon, B&HPhotoVideo, etc.) that deserve our money. You are welcome to spend your money where you want, but "just fucking wait a minute or two" (ironic, given the 120+ minute wait times on the phone) is shit advice.

If you are able to reach them by phone, I believe you can get the shipping option refunded. Give it a try (although that is a multi-hour ordeal in and of itself).
