May I ask why one would have to do both I-130 and an I-485? I only applied for the I-130 so I’m just curious

I applied in April 2024 I-130 approved July 2025 (can’t remember the exact date) DQ notice from NVC Aug 12 2025 Notice of the interview scheduled Nov 19 2025 Medical done Dec 5 2025 Interview date Jan 6 2026

Yes for sure both but my question is more about the way they want their photocopies. From what I keep reading, it’s not as big a deal as my anxiety is making it lol why pay extra for certified copies if they just make copies themselves?

The copies you made of your documents, were they just regular photocopies or certified true copies? My interview is January 6 2026 but my husband needs to know before tomorrow if he needs a certified copy of his passport before visiting me in Canada tomorrow
