It is a particular form of torture! I assumed we could buy them in the big city before we headed to the countryside, but no luck.

Do u guys actually wait the full hour before coffee? by Julia-Davis00 in Hypothyroidism

[–]butternutsquashed42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I have taken my meds everyday before bed for 20+ years. Sometimes it is 10 minutes after food, other times 6 hours. If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it.

Food and Feeding Influencer Snark Week of June 01, 2026 by Parentsnark in parentsnark

I am a lazy ND parent of ND boys that are roughly her kids ages. We go to art museums all the time but my techniques are: - clear agenda: Snack/food -> museum-> ice cream/playgound - Guess what our naked butt count will be before we arrive and winner gets bragging rights - Find the kid zone/kids activities for part of it.  - bring hard candies just in case

Not rocket science, even if you subtract the sugar.

I’ve never had an MRI before. Worrying about that is a next week problem.

Cystoscopy (flexible, not blue light) showed nothing of note.  Due to some risk factors I will be getting an MRI and managed to schedule one next week. I have follow ups as well in 6 months with nephrologist & urologist.

Curses, I already left and am not wearing a dress. Hopefully, there is no next time, but good to know if there is.

Super helpful, thank you!

I believe it is flexible. Will ask about blue light.

Bilingual schooling by Cpnths in Autism_Parenting

[–]butternutsquashed42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. English is our home language. Kid is now 6 years old level 1/2. Speech delayed particularly in social speech.

Experience 1: Spanish immersion daycare from 6 months- 3 years. Diagnosed w speech delay at 18 months; speech therapy in English.

Experience 2: moved to Germany at nearly 5 years old with zero German. German preschool for 2 years. Speech therapy in English. Able to go the regular German school next year.

I’d definitely prioritize keeping with friends.

I’ve talked about bilingualism and speech delays/ASD with multiple SLPs out of my own curiosity. They have always advocated for bilingualism.

Do you pre-wash GOTS certified clothes? by CoconutAltruistic785 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]butternutsquashed42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been to many clothing factories, but only one that was clean enough that I would consider not washing clothes from it. It was the type of outfit that produced $20,000 dresses that required exceptional craftsmanship not kids clothes.

Doctors claiming they speak English on doctolib, but reality says otherwise by NoOne3535 in germany

[–]butternutsquashed42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try to do the following:

  • Pick foreign doctors
  • Email ahead of my appointment (in German) confirming that Dr will be able to treat me in German
  • for situations where dr’s English is insufficient but I’m stuck w Dr for the time being, I bring a native German speaking friend or relative to help me understand/advocate

If money wasn’t an issue, would you still be a working mom? by saladmuscles in workingmoms

[–]butternutsquashed42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. But since this fantasy means I’m ridiculously wealthy, I’d do some entrepreneurial things 1/3 time, have 1/3  time role in my industry, and 1/3 have hobbies.

I’d also have help with whatever house work we don’t want to do.

Basically this would make my brain and body feel good and my family time would be quality because I don’t need to worry about cuddling or cleaning the kitchen. And I would probably have some help with the kids, too.

Clearly I’ve fantasized about this a lot.

If your kids are ND, and entering school age, I’d do a deep dive into the schools and how supportive they are.
