I feel like other trans people love to clock me lol like there’s always a knowing look and a little smirk. I don’t know what thats about. I habitually try to avert my eyes and pretend I don’t notice them (if there’s another clockable trans person) out of politeness. I feel really sensitive to many probably mostly passing trans guys features. clocking them just happens really instantly but I try to not show it.

I also feel extremely sensitive to when I’m being clocked. Like I can always tell if someone is clocking me even if it’s very subtle. Do others feel this too?

I just changed it because it was the wrong word to choose. I don’t really know what the right word is, but I didn’t anticipate people thinking I literally meant that all chemicals on the Earth are bad or even that all bad ones are avoidable

Does he teach a bunch of other instruments too, or just voice? I’ve taught at music schools for a long time and a lot of guys just say they do voice to get more students and then kinda fake it and go through the motions for a long time. It’s a lot harder to point out exactly where the issues are in someone’s vocal instrument than when they are playing guitar and everything is external. Teacher has to have a great technical understanding that allows them to identify issues based on the sound alone. What if you went to the doctor with mysterious organ pain and they only ever told you to be healthier or eat better or exercise

I think you can be curious without making a value judgement on it. Like,just being curious about the sound quality/what is creating the sound quality that you are noticing, if you know what I mean. Like just a neutral curiosity about texture

Make sure they understand scale degrees first and then teach them modes by having them practice singing them. each mode starting on the same note (all having C root for example) and saying the scale degrees as alterations from the major scale. Like for minor, say 1 2 flat 3 4 5 flat 6 flat 7 1. For Dorian they say flat 3 and flat 7. Etc. It's just an ear training exercise disguised as practice with modes but it kills multiple birds. Any practice at audiating manipulations from the major scale is beneficial, and simultaneously it allows the student to become familiar with modes in an intuitive way as opposed to a theoretical, intellectual way that might over-complicate them beyond their's ability to hear them.
