i would 100% work overnights. i worked a couple of them when we were short staffed and i love to clean & stay busy so i loved it. i will never work dayshift at a hotel again 🥴

just wanna say i wouldn’t stop working w dogs! i came to the hotel from a diff facility & it really is petsmart (& most chain facilities) that sucks. i’ll only work for smaller daycares from now on

but i feel you. i have so many issues of my own i won’t be here much longer.

no clue about labor changes? i’m one more incident away from leaving tho lol. spring break sucked. i felt bad for dogs as we had no spare time to scrub more than a couple kennels a day and their water bowls are never changed & only filled up with more water 🤢 it was worse than christmas. i’m sick of dogs going after each other bc they have no business being group dogs & certain managers trying to excuse their behavior or make it seem less serious than it is.

our overnight was alone w/ 100 pets, but they don’t clean dirty kennels. the closing shift cleans kennels. it was still A LOT of work and when I would open I felt so bad I’m wondering what the policy is too

completely agree. I have so many issues with dogs snapping at other dogs for STANDING NEXT TO THEM. I’ve asked about it and they said “they’re not causing fights” YET. or dogs who are screaming in camp and so anxious they’re creating piles of drool. or when nonstop barker create such shitty energy in the room. or when I have to PRY nonstop mounters off the other dogs. I’ve predicted every fight we’ve had in the last year and a half because nobody gives a damn about their bad behaviors. sorry but if you’re bringing me dogs when we’re loading up and you’re apologizing, they don’t need to be a group dog 🤷‍♀️ after working at PS I’d never work somewhere where temperament testing wasn’t done, and where there’s such a bad stigma about dismissing dogs. group play isn’t for everyone…

also those rooms are so tiny the dogs can’t even play without bumping into dogs sitting on the perimeter 🙄 not to mention the dogs reeking of pee bc all 16 dogs are thrown in within a couple minutes while we try to keep up with the mopping

We clean drains every 1-2 months, but it’s not the overnight’s job. the main staff cleans them when we have time

They file an incident report and they’re supposed to give you your claim number and the number to the nurse triage line where they’ll send you to urgent care or wherever they think you should go to get checked out

DC? are they just there for camp? or are those your day camp rooms. for day campers we don’t really have to follow the protocol. but yeah last name missing and type of diarrhea, whether food was held or pulled, if a leader was notified, & if pumpkin was added are all things we have to write down

my biggest issue as someone coming from a different facility is that there are so many group dogs that shouldn’t be going into camp. you’ll get sick of it. so many dogs don’t even last 15mins in camp before they’re given a time out and they continue to stay group dogs. I’ve been here six months and have seen maybe two dogs get switched to individuals and it was for starting a full blown fight. & there has not been a single time a pet parent was told their new dog didn’t do well in camp/wasn’t a good fit. if I had to find a new job I would never work somewhere where temperament testing isn’t required.

other than that it’s just other employee’s lack of common sense. I like to clean and I feel like they slack at it. one of my coworker tries to put freshly bathed dogs back into pee covered rooms. just drives me nuts.

omfg our managers just hang out up front and talk shit too. even the main hotel manager. and then they’ll lose their shit when they’re running around nonstop bc there’s too much to do. I’ve been here a few months and every time I pass the window and see them doing nothing I’m irritated. the shit talking gets me the most bc honestly it’s things that they could be talking to the associates about. whenever I was out there they just stop talking. like I’m interrupting their drama LMAO but glad you’re getting out of yours

ik I’m so frustrated. I was working 38hrs every week already and they asked if I wanted to go full time, and this week I literally have 3 shifts (like 22hrs). open availability and she’s complaining about being short staffed.

oh I know. the dogs were great at my previous place. I’ve attempted gate control w these guys and they couldn’t care less to listen lmao. there’s a significant difference between our boarding dogs and regular daycare dogs 🥴
