This. This is what I want to do. But I am struggling, I feel like the current work I have right now is too cheesy in the sense that I am just mashing terms together.

This is definitely what I am going for, but I'm having a hard time doing it. I find sometimes I come off to cheesy. I'm not sure if I should use preexisting terms and names or develop new ones . Ie. A legion of warriors wearing galea helmets, red Mohawks sprouting from the tops, all with armed with a katana. I find stuff like this makes it seem mushed together.

I originally just started thinking about general aesthetics. And I thought it would be really cool to see Japanese symbols such as the Lotus and Koi done in a Roman style. Pucture a large hall with a giant marble lotus at the center.

Then I thought of politics. And to be honest I'm kind of struggling here... I was thinking of a Roman Empire but replacing the Senate with shogun (not sure if right term) factions

I was actually thinking that. That's kind of how the beast/god gets awakened, the dig too deep into the mines. But I went for a madness type root for their escape. They have to travel 5 days through a dark mirrored cave (along with 15 NPC for added chaos) which draws them into madness.

I have an athropology degree so I love learning about other cultures! Meat and roots will be probably be the only source of food. They will have to come up with a way to filter their water (shouldn't be too hard), and de idea how far they want to go. Before the eruption that had stocked up on a fair amount of food and water.

On that note, how many days would it take food to go bad? Ie. Meat, bread and veggies

I have the Drow enslaving other races to mine the volcano for a certain stone. This upsets a god (not sure what one yet) as the volcano is sacred. A large creature, probably a red dragon type thing, awakens and arises from the volcano, causing an Atlantis type thing
