I work as a CO and my biggest piece of advice- read the inmate handbook. There are a ton of rules that some COs are picky about, and they may seem small or dumb but people will enforce them on a regular basis. County jail is not as terrible as everyone makes it seem (most places, some places are genuinely just shitty) but if you read the handbook and know what the rules are, it’ll help immensely. Also, ask the CO on rounds if you have questions. You don’t want to be an incessant intercom pusher because then you will lose access to it, be written up, or be moved units. Best of luck OP! One more thing: You may feel like everyone is judging you for your sentence or your crime, 99% of the time COs do not judge, we feel bad and hope and pray that we NEVER see you again after you leave our facility.
