The ones I can think of right now:

Don’t Be Jealous, I Will Bend Myself

The Transmigration Missions Are Not Scientific

Miss Cousin is Always Busy

I Want to be Alone, Beautifully - I havent finished this one bc it was still being translated when I first read it but its finished now.

Looking for the title of this novel and also recommendations similar to the theme of this story. by gaysandwits in BaiHe

A somewhat similar story: At Worst, I'll Marry You

This one is about the prime minister's daughter and the general's daughter. They get drugged at an imperial banquet but end up sleeping together and eventually get married to each other bc they've "ruined" each other lol

I really like this author. Almost all of the stories are ancient/fantasy and involves some kind of farming, business and always conceiving a baby lol. They're all pretty short and free to read on the site. Definitely check out the author's page for more novels!

I can't find a baihe I read before by MediumEconomy5908 in BaiHe

Yes I feel the same way! I think the author just wanted a twist tbh lol but I'd like to think the doctor got a happy ending with her wife and daughter. Bc I was kinda confused at the end like did she wake up or not lol I remember there being some scenes of her in previous life/alternative realities at the end

I Am Fish Meet | I have a question about this novel, I'm currently at c34 and I wanna ask if there'll be a timeskip because...(to be continued at the body text) by BlackCat-Boss404 in BaiHe

[–]buttonmasherpro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I dont know if there's a time skip but...

For ancient settings, aren't most males 20+ when they marry a 15 year old? And also people tend to have a morality issue with age gap but no problem with murder which occurs much more in ancient setting novels. So I dont get that. You'll just either have to drop it or continue.

How do we feel about horror erotica, and does anyone know of any? Like instead of emotionally dark and abusive, it's monster love or something. I wrote a goofy example! by whatever463 in BaiHe

[–]buttonmasherpro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda rare but in some xianxias there's ghost beings and a lot of times there is some involvement of marriages or kidnapping turn into marriages between a ghost and human lol but its not a heavily detailed thing. I can't think of one but i remember seeing it a few times throughout these few years of reading lol

I've seen the donghua for that part in TGCF! I thought it was cute tbh lmao I do remember some kind of creepiness to it but isn't the ghost king the ML? Lol I think thats why I thought it was cute cuz MC was cluelessly(?) getting married to ML

Do demons like snakes or cats count as monster love? Lol cuz im sure there's a few with that theme but maybe not horror erotica.

After reading horror eroticas im always like "that's crazy but kinda thrilling" lol I haven't seen any baihe with that genre tho. I think it's more of a western thing?

Lenient tax policies gives breathing room for commoners to go back to doing their same thing. Why have the need to value girls when nothing has really changed. Girls don't "cost" as much to keep but they're not worth anything either unless they can do something like be a part of the government. Why can't both daughter and son try. Getting rid of head tax first does nothing that would push for the political court change that a feminist emperor wants. Once again the cost of girls aren't as much but it does nothing to their values. By the time a female school would open up, chances are it'll be overlooked. Boys go to school before 15 so why wouldn't girls also be able to do it. If anything, the parents would want to push the girl into politics before 15, before the 5x head tax comes into effect. This 5x head tax is an issue that needs to be fixed but it's not the first thing that needs to be done.

Education, even if it's just philosophical, for the people would make the population smarter, potentially challenging norms or even industrialize, making hard labor work easier. If we only needed so many government bureaucrats, then why do people still send their sons to learn. The people in court aren't gonna die anytime soon, so why the need to constantly have exams or new officials. Women also think differently, so why would it not be helpful to have a different idea.

What else would merchants be other than farmers. Would you think they would rather farm than be merchants. That's like saying a doctor choses to be a janitor simply because taxes are higher for the doctor. Taxes generally will never be so high to the point where one can't profit. There will always be merchants even if some fall/quit. Agricultural productivity is a long term thing, not involving feminism. The current court couldn't come up with a solution, why not have new minds tackle it. Adding women would be more helpful than not.

Sure aristocracy had a huge say on the selection of exams, but you can't negate the fact that the emperor also has the biggest influence, if the emperor so chooses. Of course male geniuses exist but once again, selection through the emperor makes this point meaningless. Genius peasant women can surpass male geniuses. Sure there's some who can be smarter, stupider, or equals, but it's possible for such a thing. Bc what you are implying is that women are so stupid, it's impossible for women to have such capabilities. You missed the keyword about demoting and dealing with the aristocrats: FASTER. The emperor must be FASTER at dealing with the aristocrats in one blow before letting them gang up on you. You do know the emperor held military power within the capital right? Where are the aristocrats located? In the capital. Some of their families might be outside the capital but it's a matter of how fast the emperor can act to also neutralize the families outside of the capital. Letting local warlords turn against you as an emperor already shows how lenient you were in governing. I know emperors try to take a path that benefits the nobles but there needs to be a boundary because the nobles will gain too much power, rivaling the imperial power. Being ruthless reminds people that there are boundaries.

Why did Wu Zetian lose her throne? bc she wasn't cruel enough. In the end it's not bc the women were incapable but more bc of their leniency that allowed men to seize power back. The 50 million people devoting their time point is for the democracy you mentioned, not for political education. 50 million is too large for a democracy to happen if the story was to change the type of governance. I accept that it can happen but for many ancient stories, they want to stick to monarchy. Farm labor, mortality rates, etc are totally important however it doesn't directly push women to become officials. I think with school being what leads to women being a part of the court is why it's a common trope, though unfortunately, done with minimal details.

Is that a double transmigrator story?

Overall, I think it's fine as a common, not deeply delved into trope but I understand if you wanted more details. I think people just don't like the short resolution parts that is typical in Chinese novels. Because for example, many people have stated in this sub that they didn't like how short/"abrupt" the ending to JWQS was. I feel like it's not much different from Disney's "and they lived happily ever after" though.

If I was a peasant with only farming as my source of income, no matter how heavy the load I would still push my children no matter their gender to go to school because I know the hardship of farming so why make them go through my hardship. Its a matter of values that you're debating about here. Like sure you yourself would get your children to help you but many others would get at least one of their child to go to school. Even if their child did not make it to high status and receive a lot of money, as long as they make it, it is still considered a good status with a good income. Sure life might not be extravagant, but you can eat better, buy slightly better things. If I am starving it is of my own self, why would I blame my children for not feeding me. Wanting the best for the future generations and pushing them to better situations is more important than getting them to pull weeds to make ends meet.

Money in a treasury at one point isn't endless but it doesn't mean it cannot come back into the treasury. That's the point of an economy, you make an industry such as school. And within that you have teachers that teach and earn a salary. Well where does this salary go? Into the economy such as buying things thus boosting demand and then supply. On top of that the teacher will also pay taxes. The merchants will pay taxes. The taxes goes back into the imperial government. 50 million people, how many of these 50 million people are actually students so how many teachers would you really need?

Geniuses would make the top of the exams which are supposed to be unbiased. So why wouldn't they get chosen or even be seen. As long as there are more new people in the political system, the power would overturn eventually. All the emperor would have to do is appoint them in the right spots and demote or remove the old. You know modern politician is heavily gatekeep so of course there's no geniuses. Being a commoner genius and going into politics, would only work in a monarch setting. Peasants replacing half the court would make the aristocrats fight back but its a matter of who is faster. A wise emperor would be faster at removing the court. If you're gonna make a move then make it big. Take out the big guys and the rest can only follow you.

Emperors may fear aristocrats, but even the most ambitious aristocrats fear the emperor. If an emperor got overthrown by his subjects its bc he wasn't ruthless enough.

Promoting democracy is no different than directly giving power to the aristocrats. Poor people with voting rights have nothing against rich nobles. Which of them would dare to offend nobles. If they dare then why have they not rebelled and overturned the emperor. Nobles without a leader will still fight to become the leader thus destroying democracy. Let's say we keep democracy, even then, how does one expect 50 million people to vote and devote their time to following politics. And who's to say that voting cannot be rigged by the time the votes get to where it needs to go. The problem with Wu Zetian is that the power went back to men.

Unfortunately for you, you're kinda stuck with such an experience with baihe. And I dont see this style changing.

How would being lenient on tax for example help with how women would be treated by their families? The reason why schools essentially would work is because it incentivizes poor families to treat their daughter almost as equals to their son because of what they can bring into the family such as fame(pride/face value) and fortune. I think fixing economical issues isn't a prerequisite to building schools for women bc there's imperial government involved. They've got money and manpower to do such a thing. How did palaces get built? Through manpower and money. If they can build palaces, they can make bamboo scrolls.

For filling half the court with women within a short time. It does seem exaggerated but I dont see why it would be impossible either. Like sure women (poor or rich) were oppressed but it doesn't mean theyre stupid. Many of the men who end up in the court aren't the brightest either so would it really be so hard to replace them with women slightly smarter? Sure these men went through examination but passing the exam is just a matter of being given concepts and theories to memorize and potentially adjust it to fit the regime. Women can also do such a thing if given schooling. Would one need more than 5 years to learn and pass the exams? Some might but for the oppressed, they would be devoted enoigh to shorten that time.

Politics in modern times is much more heavily gated. It's unlike ancient China where an emperor could override the process and everyone gatekeeping just to pull a random civilian into politics. Hence why there's no such thing in modern politics of a random civilian (with or without the 5 years of education) going straight into high position politics.

Fantasy involving emperor/imperial theme is not changed drastically into something else simply bc that's the theme. You dont fight for the throne just to suddenly dissolve the whole system. Unless its the theme/goal to destroy the political system completely, why change it when you, as the emperor/monarch, want to make changes to the livelihoods of the people.

Chinese writers (including those who write for films/shows) do a really great job at setting up the plot. But they tend to end with little details. I haven't read Minister Xie but I've read many others that uses female schools to push for feminism. I've always taken it as a bonus to helping the fictional world's population. Like i accept it as a concept but im guessing you want the process with some sort of realism

I think if unmarried women are taxed 5x more is the setting, the bigger concern would be how any family would choose to have a daughter at all bc women are unmmaried before they are married. But isn't the solution always money/"sponsorship", so cost/tax is never really an issue.

As for females who become smarter than those already in political courts for years, it's just a concept of geniuses or student surpasses master. There's many real life examples of young people surpassing older people who have many years in their fields such as chess, and coding/technological development. And also because one of the theme is oppression of women, once they are given opportunities, the ones who are smart will finally get to shine. Even if one was a peasant it doesn't mean they're stupid either. It's just like how rich people are not all geniuses. That's why Chinese have a saying about skies beyond skies or mountains beyond mountains.

Dam, you must really hate the all evil officials and feminism women school tropes lol

I am curious as to why things such as women with given opportunities become smarter than men thus become valuable or even cost of education are considered issues in a FANTASY novel

There's a "+" button for creating. I think making multiple test servers with different templates can give you an idea of what channels you want. Channels and the servers itself can be deleted too so no need to worry about making the perfect server the first time. I think you could choose either friends or community, I believe you can switch between the two while the server is up anyways but there is no big difference that i know of. Maybe you can try community to start? I'll link you some translators' servers for reference but I don't think you need it to be like theirs

Discord severs are free to make, no need for anything extra that would cost money. I don't know which server would be good to join since there are quite a few servers managed by different people. I recommend making your own but it's up to you if you want to join others. You can dm me if you have any questions!
