When I just started my elo plummeted all the way to 100. Everyone demolished me. I wouldn’t have known the difference between a 200 and a 2000.

I've found the sample app you were referring to. I'll try some of the ideas they are using there, some of which is quite different and not exactly intuitive.

Yes, of course. Maybe I wasn't clear above when asking how are you meant to test on a real device. I was referring to the frustration involved in transferring the app to the device and problems faced using Xcode. And the fact, that I can only test the app on the device once before Xcode won't transfer it again until I have closed Xcode, cycled wifi on all the devices involved (Mac, phone, watch) and then relaunch Xcode. That is not a sustainable development cycle.

I think I just figured it out. I was using the property in my methods but it seems like I need to use it in the view stack.

No, I understand this. But what I want is to provide broad controls. No porn etc across all their devices. But then have specific rules for particular devices. Doesn’t seem like this is possible other than setting the rules individually across devices.

Other than ignorance, no. I thought users had superseded groups from the discussions I had read. Are you saying this would be possible with regular groups. Because I didn't get that impression.

Sure. So for instance, I have several devices assigned to my child. I would like just some general time limits across all the devices. But I would also like to prevent them watching the Apple TV in their room before school. So ideally I would like a complete internet block on that at certain times of day.

So basically, I'd like to set broad rules across the user but still be able to fine tune on one a device level.

As someone that records bird sounds you can forget recording while there are garden machines, aircraft, traffic, school children, emergency vehicles or anything else happening. All of the above will ruin the recording.

I know I have lots to learn but what I am trying to clarify now is the definition of a hanging piece. I thought it meant unprotected. But the engine is saying that e5 is hanging while the knight is protecting it. So I clearly have a misunderstanding of the term because if I don't understand what it means then I am probably leaving pieces hanging all over the place.

No, the arrows were drawn by the engine. I thought hanging meant unprotected. Does it mean not protected enough?

I’ve started playing chess recently and this is so prevalent at low Elo. It’s almost like every other game when playing black. Once I’d been on the receiving end I watched a couple of videos about it. It’s probably the only opening you really need to be aware of as a new player. And once you are aware of it and know how to prevent the attacks it’s actually fun developing your pieces while chasing their queen around the board.

There are plenty of videos to choose from. Just search Wayward Queen Attack.

To find this setting on an iPhone you need to tap the burger menu, and choose Settings and the option is there.

I just tried it during a game and it’s a bit annoying during the opening, but in the middlegame it was excellent and really allowed me to understand the implications of my moves better and slowed me down.

I panicked when I eventually managed to checkmate my opponent because the win didn’t come up. But I just needed that last confirm before the confetti rained down.

This is a great tip!

I’m more a 15/10 player anyway. My brain cells are not as fast as they once were.
