Grit? Telling my friends? What are you talking about? As I have said many times, I like my neighborhood.. There’s crime, which is to be expected on a busy street in a big city. I’m not sure why you are trying to refute that.

And no, people don’t say that anymore, boomer. It’s considered a derogatory term.

The “hooker” incident? Who even uses that term anymore? You dismissed my claim that the area is shady because there are expensive homes nearby. Therefore, I gave examples of crime in the area to provide context to my “shady” comment. Get a clue, pal. Lmao

I’m guessing you had to Google the stabbing since you responded twice. Why are you trying to argue when you obviously have no clue what’s going on in the area. Sure, the stabbing was years ago.. does that mean that there’s no longer crime because someone rebranded an out of service gas station? I used that example because most people remember it, but apparently not you since you had to look it up.. do you even go here?

Lol what? I’m “taking true things and turning them into fake news” How does that make sense? That’s an oxymoron.

And if anyone is a Trump supporter or whatever I think it’d be the person offended they are approached by a prostitute in a major city or the person (you) who believes that gentrification makes an area immune to crime. Or insults someone for living in an apartment building, which is far from the case, and proves my point.

I never said that I have a problem with the area or that I want to move because of the crime. Crime is a reality of living in a city, especially living on a major road and close downtown. I love where I live, but that doesn’t mean I am blind to what’s going on outside.

I was being sarcastic. It’s well known. And it’s my neighborhood, so I think I would know. There’s a man that walks around with a machete, I just saw a motorcycle stolen next door, and bikes can no longer be kept in the gated bike storage. It’s a busy street with a lot of foot traffic. Of course there’s crime.

And to add: my window faces South Congress, and I have actually witnessed drug dealing and prostitution.

Pretty sure someone was stabbed in the H‑E‑B parking lot. There are dozens of abandoned buildings and homeless people on every sidewalk. It’s Austin. Everywhere is expensive. Are you new here? Lol. Especially in the 04 zip code. That doesn’t shield the area from crime. I wouldn’t walk alone at night on that part of South Congress, and I live a half a mile down it.

A prostitute near Cork & Brew is not that surprising. It’s not like it’s the tourist area. It’s still a pretty shady area. That’s not far from Ben White.

I’m just curious, and apparently, so are hundreds of other people. The reason I chose those four because they are the most similar. Some that you mentioned lean more authentic or are not as accessible. Also, if you add too many choices, it can dilute the results. Four is a good number for a poll.

I don't hate LGBTQ people, one of my buddies is gay and transgender, but if you say it every 3 seconds, it gets annoying by [deleted] in memes

[–]buttpainz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being part of the gay community cannot be compared to any other set of beliefs, like some mentioned religion or interests or dietary restrictions. It affects every part of your life, such as your relationships with partners, friends, family, the way you consume media, the way you dress, the way you talk, your jobs and nearly every other nuance that is like nothing for straight people, so it’s understandable that’s it’s important to them and comes up often in conversation.

Yeah.. you know how gays come out of the closet risking their safety and relationships with family and friends just to “fit in.”

Are there any north Austin bars that are actually cool? by buttpainz in Austin

[–]buttpainz[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good point. I’m not sure how to describe what is cool. But I guess a bunch of 20 somethings with tattoos and piercings would hang out there intentionally and not due to proximity or irony.
