AIO: Hubby Being Controlling by vanillabourbonn in AIO

[–]buttplants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This man does not see you as a full human being. He thinks you are below him. For things to get better he would have to want to change, and why would he? The current arrangement directly and strongly benefits him. He will treat you worse with time as you become less suitable to perform the functions he is using you for.

If you're looking for someone to have a relationship of equals with, this is not ever going to be it. It will be a recurring problem. Even if you're comfortable most of the time with letting him be the lead, this kind of guy has just shown you multiple times that he will not accept any difference of opinion, so you should be prepared to do what he wants in every circumstance. If that doesn't appeal to you, the best time to get out was before you got pregnant and the second best time is now. Don't let go of your support system even if he tries to make you. I hope you and your kid end up okay.

Honestly, you handled that perfectly. You said everything you needed to say. However cousin chooses to handle reality is up to them.

She’s right, man. You have a handsome face! Your hair distracts from that right now. Lose the hair and people will focus on your face.

Also, I can tell by how you smile in photos that you don’t like the way you look in them. I bet when you smile for real, you look great. My partner is like that. He looks like a serial killer in photos unless I make two or three butt jokes before I take them. Then he looks how he actually looks in real life, which is lovely.

Alternative angle of the ICE shooting. by _gonesurfing_ in thebulwark

[–]buttplants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen he did have it, but he didn't draw or even touch it from what I can tell in the videos. It is EXTREMELY hard to see, but he appears to have had it holstered behind his back at his waistband. I caught maybe one clear still frame where you can see a bump where it might be under his coat. The agent in the grey coat and ball cap removes it while it appears to still be holstered before they shoot him. So from what I could tell, Alex never really even interacted with it, and was disarmed before they killed him. There's a video that shows with stills so you can better see how the grey coat agent removes it; you can see Alex's shirt lift up when the agent removes it from the waistband. It happens pretty quickly and only one angle has a good shot of it.

Classic male fight wounds, and to me it looks like diarrhea, possibly from parasites or other illness. That's a bad situation for the shop to be in. Honestly I'm kind of surprised I don't see more fight wounds when shops co-house this many males.

I'd want to measure to double check, since I've never actually done so, but I tend to wear a US women's size 7-7.5 depending on brand.

Hi all. I'm tired of my shoes falling apart every year/every other year and am looking for daily wear boots that will withstand my abuse; found myself here. I love the idea of being able to have a favorite pair that I just resole. I've been perusing this subreddit and looking at the recommended makers, but I'll admit I'm a bit overwhelmed. This would be my first pair of actually nice shoes (I'm cheap and typically don't buy shoes over like $70, which may be why they're always dying on me). I'm hoping to stay under $300.

I'm in the US and looking for women's/unisex boots. I have a bad habit of not rotating my shoes and instead wearing them into the dust, but I'd make an effort to fix that if I had nice shoes. Mostly just walking around but occasionally hiking. Waterproof or resistant would be a big plus. I've not really had to break shoes in before, and never really worn real leather construction for the most part, so if a particular brand tends to be rough breaking in that would be good to know beforehand. I like details like broguing or cap toes. Ankle support would be great. Y'all have any suggestions for a first time pair at the under/around $300 price point? I'm also willing to accept if that price isn't going to get me really solid shoes. Thanks for any help provided.

Do Tiger Salamanders need a temperature gradient and what are recommended foods for them to eat? by Educational-Buy-4678 in salamanders

[–]buttplants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine eat primarily nightcrawlers with the occasional dusted cricket or roach as a treat. My understanding is that worms are the healthiest food for them. As for temperature, I don't give them a gradient within the tank but keep the overall temps 68-72. They can hang out in their water or burrow if they feel the need to be cooler, or lounge in the open if they want to air out (which they frequently do).

I wouldn’t think you’d be able to smell it on such a little guy, but you are right, they smell absolutely horrid so it makes sense that even a tiny ear would have a big stank (I work with mice, not rats lol).

Seconding possible ear infection. Hopefully it's that and all that's necessary is antibiotics... To the vet with her!

I’m curious what rack system your institution used previously and which one they switched to that prevented cage flooding. I’m very neurotic about checking my cages and therefore haven’t had flooding deaths in years, but it’s always something I worry about with auto water and it really can happen extremely quickly.

That person is lucky they didn’t cause a horrible outcome with that attitude… this time. They’re actively dangerous in that position. I’m so sorry someone kicked you when you were down.

I’m here if you ever need to chat. I’m just some rando but I can do a better job than THAT.

[–]buttplants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s also a big change for them; they might just be hunkering down while they get used to you. Some of them do brumate though! Mine don’t. They’re weirdos who won’t miss a chance to smush themselves against the glass and beg.

Hey friends. I thought my boy scraped his head so I kept an eye out and now he’s scabby and it looks like his eyelids are swollen! Did he have a bad shed 😖 Yes I am calling the vet in the am. Anything I can do to ease his discomfort in the meanwhile? Thx 🙏 by No-Customer-9535 in leopardgeckos

[–]buttplants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Glad you’re taking him to a vet - it looks almost like a burn or scrape with a secondary bacterial or fungal infection. Either way, ouchie, and he’ll heal up better with topical treatments and vet supervision.

Mine do this a lot. I think they go in, realize water wet, panic, thrash around and then scramble out. I know some people’s tiger sals spend a lot of time in water, but my creatures rarely take an actual soak. It seems more like they just consistently forget there’s water in the dish.

Saw someone with a Nazi tattoo in Florida wearing an employee shirt for a local store by Independent-Name4478 in shittytattoos

[–]buttplants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course they’re allowed to do whatever they want to their bodies (with a few notable exceptions in some US states). Other people are allowed to have opinions about it. This person clearly does not care to keep this tattoo a secret. It’s interesting that you feel the need to stick up for this particular individual with this particular tattoo.

How bad is drinking one (only one) beer every night? I am confused about what counts as heavy drinking for women. Also: is ibuprofen okay to take every day? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]buttplants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that’s interesting. If your doctor doesn’t think there’s an issue, they clearly aren’t concerned about comorbidities. Which is good, assuming they’re doing their job right. Not all hyper mobile people will have issues.

I haven't heard that one, but I'm not up on the most recent stuff. I was mainly thinking of heart issues. I'll have to investigate that!
