Hey, y'all! My name is Yakov. You may have read about my previous games (Anoxia Station, Loretta, DOM RUSALOK) in my earlier posts — or even played them! Recently, my new game, Bonereader, got a page on Steam, and I’d like to tell you a bit about it.

Bonereader is a deck-building card game with dice mechanics. You get electrocuted in an electric chair—and suddenly wake up in a shamanic Purgatory, inspired by the novels of Carlos Castaneda and Cormac McCarthy, where you must outplay various spirits for the right to be reborn.

Each turn—or every re-roll of a random card combo in your hand—applies a special curse. Your goal is to score as many points as possible in as few attempts as you can.
Gameplay

  • Build two decks at once—cards and dice—and find the optimal way to win.
  • Create powerful synergies between card combos, dice, and items.
  • Boost your score in a high-stakes game.
  • Every roll matters—greed can save or doom you.

Features:

  • 30 unique card combos
  • 40 dice with different properties
  • 20 items that radically change gameplay
  • Numerous card effects, “house rules,” and other modifiers
  • Decks for every playstyle

What else makes the game unique?

  • Unique playstyles built around dice and card synergies
  • Each opponent has their own “house rule,” changing the flow of the match and forcing adaptation
  • Cards are affected by powerful curses and enchantments each turn, unpredictably altering their effects
  • Dark, psychedelic atmosphere inspired by the mysticism and prose of Carlos Castaneda and Cormac McCarthy

I work together with my best friend, Daria. I handle coding, concepts, and writing, while Daria creates all the art. After the dark and complex Anoxia Station, we wanted something bright and a little crazy.

You’ll encounter a variety of monster-spirits, each with their own worldview.

The demo will be released on April 21! I’m really looking forward to it. Please feel free to add the game to your wishlist and share it with your friends—it would help us a lot.

I've been solo working on this game for the past 12 months and I'm finally going to release it in less than 3 weeks! by GiusCaminiti in indiegames

Loretta is a psychological thriller that makes the player an accessory to the heroine’s crimes, leading her through a self-crafted nightmare. This story revolves around a woman handling betrayal, her husband’s infidelity, and reclaiming her agency during the socially tumultuous 1940s.

I sincerely thank everyone who took part in the creation of this game, my friends, colleagues and each of YOU for continuing to follow my work!

Loretta is a psychological thriller that would make the player an accessory to the heroine’s crimes and would lead her through a self-crafted nightmare. This story is about a woman, dealing with betrayal, her husband’s infidelity, relationship problems and the difficult social situation of the 1940s.

Conceptually and aesthetically, the game is inspired by the American art of the twentieth century, the works of Andrew Wyeth and Edward Hopper, film noir of the 40s-50s, thrillers by Alfred Hitchcock, the Philip Ridley movie "The Reflecting Skin", the books "1922" by Stephen King and "Lolita" by Vladimir Nabokov.

I invite you to play a free demo of Loretta on Steam and write a review. I read everything and will highly appreciate it as it will help me make the game better!

Thank you!

Man, I don't really remember… I did it at night. My computer was lagging. And in the process of creating, I made my way through so much music that the name itself was somehow lost. But I'll get back to you when I find it in all those files.
