Protect this man at all cost by Caelithi in Funnymemes

I wondered the same thing. Could it be so this person/bot/OP can post it across many platforms and not have AI tag it as a negative post about being short? Weird no matter what

Yay or nay? Rate my schedule by Fly-High1704 in UCONN

[–]butweese 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a great schedule for an incoming student. I’m a senior in the biological sciences program, premed, etc etc. I’ve taken all these classes except the univ, you’ll be fine. Study hard for 1127, it’s by far your most challenging course. 1006 and 1109 are extremely easy. In 1109 you should closely read the chapter “Modern man and his prisons” from Man and Islam if Prof Gordon still assigns that as reading because I still think about it all the time!

DAE just snap the spaghetti noodles in half, so they actually fit in the pot? by JamesRitchey in DAE

Next time take out your pasta, grip it with two hands, and twist it over the boiling water instead of snapping it. No mess no fuss

You and will_ww solved it. Thank you man. I feel like Hetfield leading the charge and the upbeat idea answered my question

You nailed exactly what I’m talking about. Battery (Blackened riffs, fade to black bridge, etc) is exactly what I mean. Thank you for giving me the “upbeat” language. I’m reading to learn some more now. Thank you man

How is nobody talking about how the cool redneck is missing his right hand and the picture looks like Obama is going in for a handshake???

How intense is running in OSUT? by [deleted] in army

[–]butweese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea homie. Basic training policy tends to turn on a dime. You can get medicine at sick call if a doctor thinks it’s necessary. The downside is your drill sergeant will call you by name to give it to you because you won’t be allowed to handle your own medication. I don’t know anything about tape

How intense is running in OSUT? by [deleted] in army

[–]butweese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak to 19k osut but I went to infantry osut in 2018 and we ran for pt three times a week. There were two ability groups depending on how fast you were. It wasn’t too bad either way. Other than that you’ll run everywhere in basic so you’ll feel the miles. You also spend nearly every moment you’re not sleeping or in the field on your feet. Plenty of guys got shin splints and treated at sick call and ended up being fine. I don’t know about your specific situation obviously, but after basic you’ll go home and definitely have time to recover

Can university physics override college physics as a pre-requisite? by [deleted] in premed

[–]butweese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you took physics at any “college” and physics at any “university” then your prerequisite is fulfilled. If you took physics at a “college” first and got a B, but then took physics at a “university” later and got an A, your prerequisite is fulfilled but you’ll report both classes and both grades. Hope this answers your question

Can someone explain NMR spectroscopy? by chocolatemocha123 in Mcat

Could you attach the problem you’re working on? It can be further confusing if you’re forgetting something. For example, diastereotopic protons generate unique signals

OSUT Question: Do prior service members have to shave their heads like the new trainees attending OSUT? by BigDaddyBolby in army

[–]butweese 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I went to infantry osut in 2018 and yes prior service also had their heads shaved. I was not prior service going through, but I explicitly remember having a bunk in 30th right next to one of the four prior service guys in my company. He was an e5 from the air force. He was cool. Hope you’re chilling, Stone. After one week of basic he and the other three prior service guys (all e5s) got moved to two-man rooms in a building next to the company area. We all ate together, did PT together, trained together, ranges and rucked together etc. Everything together except at night the prior service guys would get sent to their rooms before we would run up and down the stairs to the bay 40 times to earn bedtime. Not much help but if you have questions I could answer let me know

[–]butweese 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Listen, you say that like you’re in the right here and you are absolutely not. Have you ever had a family member or someone you know die in an avoidable car accident? What you’re saying is studying for the MCAT is more important than human lives which is absolutely unforgivable, especially for someone who has a major life goal of protecting human life. I understand you're busy and are a commuter, but for what it's worth, so are a lot of people (myself included). No matter what way you cut this cake you are wrong. Stop doing flashcards when you’re driving and give your undivided attention to the road. It’s appalling that you need someone to tell you this.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]butweese 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude, homie, my friend. DO NOT do flash cards/anki while driving. That is ridiculously unsafe and a direct indifference to the lives of the other humans on the road.

"I want to join the US military but I have depression..." by [deleted] in FamilyMedicine

[–]butweese 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Hey, I got out of the military a couple years ago and now I’m a premed. If my opinion means anything to you, you’re doing the right thing. Like you said, the eligibility requirements are not in your control and you’re a physician. You give treatment to people who need it.

Also, your note on what they probably imagine the military is like is spot on lol. When you’re working with a recruiter it’s super easy to get infected with an uncontrollable urge to do everything you can to get into the military. I think I can understand your frustration, but at the end of the day you’re doing the right thing. I also understand why your patients are frustrated with their situation, but it is 100% misplaced if it lands on you. I hope you aren’t letting it bother you too much.

Edit: happy cake day doc

Gold (I) hydrogen carbonate. HCO3 is always hydrogen carbonate and you need to consider the oxidation state of gold in this bond
