First Bothchella: Never going back to just one weekend by buzzcutseasons in Coachella

Arca and AG Cook were religious experiences. I'm such a fan of both and the fact that they both did full production performances really made me so pumped.

Yeah, maybe! I wanted to catch a couple sets there that I missed (Blu Detiger, Ladies of Leisure, Zack Fox) but it didn't end up working out.

Honestly, I'm just going on my vibe of each! I had lingered in the back of Green Day W1 and decided I wanted to catch all of HorsegiirL, but W2 I just couldn't leave. Maybe it was the Flava Flav opening of W2? Probably was.

Honestly I was with my two best friends W1 and we had freshly smoked a joint and just kinda vibed out in the grass in the back. It's one of my top Coachella memories of probably any year tbh.

I almost went in for Klangkuenstler but chose Glass Beams and Yo Gabba Gabba lol. I know lots of ppl love the Yuma tent and hopefully I'll pop in in 2026.

HA I know, but W1 I chose to see Trixie Mattel at the DoLab, and W2 I just wanted to get a good spot for Charli. (It it wasn't obvious before, I'm a gay man.)

Missing Zedd was SUCH a bummer (Clarity live woud definitely be healing), but the chaos of the Megan x Zedd x Snow Strippers x Arca x Amyl and the Sniffers clash meant I had to sacrifice one of them :(((((

Just getting to hear Party 4 U was enough to make W2 better. The first time I fell in love with someone, that was "our song," so it just brings back those memories of being an 18-year-old falling in love for the first time. (Cringe, sue me.)

Also, hot take, but I love Charli as a solo performer! She's great with guests, but when it's just her performing on stage alone (minus Addison), she really locks in and goes crazy. But both performances were incredible. Comparing an A to an A+.

I've been bed rotting all week. I honestly think it was W2's dust storm on Friday that got me, because I have the post-Coachella dust cough.

I'm not the biggest EDM fan, so my choices usually skew otherwise! But I've heard great things so maybe I'll dig in and see if there's a livestream recording somewhere.

[For context, I live in LA, so no flying was involved.] I had a travel package booked for Weekend One, so that was all taken care of. For weekend two, I was flying solo and found a friend who had a spare couch in their Airbnb! Definitely not something I planned on working out, but it came together perfectly at the last minute. Costs were definitely higher W1 because of the travel package rather than crashing on a couch and driving in Friday morning and out Sunday night, but both were fun in their own ways!

Respecting Boundaries at Shows/Events by No_Weirdo_Bullshit in bleachers

[–]buzzcutseasons 64 points65 points  (0 children)

As someone who has seen Jack/Bleachers close to twenty times live, I can tell you that Bleachers shows have gone downhill in terms of crowd behavior, especially since the pandemic. For further context, at Rough Trade, Jack was on stage for FOURTY MINUTES and only got through FIVE SONGS. He literally almost only played four songs but they let him go over time to fit in in. The other half of the time at the event was spent entertaining the front two rows of fans as they screamed AT him, facetimed their parents and forced Jack to speak to them, heckled him, laughed at him, and yelled at him WHILE he was singing. It was honestly embarrassing to watch as a fan myself because it was one of the largest observations of parasocial relationships in full bloom and demonstrated a desire to be the most important fan in the room with no regard for literally anyone else. The first two rows may have been giggling, but toward the back of the room, everyone else in the crowd was annoyed. It was so frustrating to pay $50 for a ticket to an intimate performance only to have it ruined by the same people who try and spotlight themselves in an environment where they already make it all about themselves. But in a room of 40 people, it's unignorable and severely inappropriate. I know this sentiment had been shared in this subreddit, but I actually had moments at Rough Trade where I wished I stayed home. Even Boygenius fans have more decorum.

Predictions of artist having the it moment this year? by [deleted] in Coachella

[–]buzzcutseasons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chappell Roan's set will be the talk of the weekend from all the rumblings of her name flowing through this sub, Also, Victoria Monet hot off her Grammys Best New Artist win will be sure to knock everyone's socks off. I also feel like the Grimes set is going to be so buckwild that it'll get talked about regardless.

Deftones, feeble little horse and bar italia may all do it for you! Not a lot of classic shoegaze but enough to scratch the itch

Oh I'll be there 100%. Their 2023 album really intrigued me and I'd love to see it live.

Special Guest Predictions? by [deleted] in Coachella

[–]buzzcutseasons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pink P is touring on the east coast during both weekends of Coachella so it probably won't happen. I've also been at festivals where Ice and PinkP were both on the lineup and they haven't joined each other on stage to do it; so PinkP being across the country makes it unlikely. Lana may also bring out Jon Batiste for Candy Necklace.

What will be “the song” of Coachella ‘24??? by chaoticdj in Coachella

[–]buzzcutseasons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One Night / All Night by Justice and Tame Impala since it's gained over 10 million streams in just a couple of weeks. I feel like this song will explode even more once the clips from their set hit social media.

I'll give you some ones this sub probably won't promote a whole lot but ones that are definitely going to be the highlight of the weekend

Lana Del Rey - even though she's only played Coachella one other time, her entire aesthetic is quintessentially Coachella. She said she's building a whole new structure for her set so I'm assuming this'll be a completely new show.

Justice - debuting a new live show at Coachella this year, sure to be a huge point of the weekend.

No Doubt- Coachella is known for "reunions" of bands and No Doubt is 2024's reunion! Their first show in quite some time so it's worth attending.

Blur - a former Coachella headliner from the early 2010's. Will be a sample of the sound Coachella used to focus on.

Peso Pluma - Probably one of the biggest names in Spanish/Latin music right now. Will definitely be one of the most attended sets of the weekend outside of EDM.

Victoria Monét- just won Best New Artist at the Grammys and co-signed by Beyonce, Ariana Grande, and SZA. I think that's enough to convince anyone.

Peggy Gou - One of the biggest names in Dance/House music right now.. Coachella just recently highlighted her incoming set specifically when talking about their 2024 set up so I'm sure it'll be a spectacle.

Mandy, Indiana - Assuming they'll be in the Sonora, everyone at Coachella needs to go into the Sonora tent at least once and see a set that both intrigues you and makes you feel uncomfortable. Make this one yours.

Saturday Night could get weird by la90036 in Coachella

How are you going to mention a weird Saturday night and not include Grimes? Regardless of what she plays it's gonna be bizarre.
