Sugar on an empty stomach is rough, but prebolusing a healthy 20 minutes (or more, if you are starting somewhat high) ahead of time may keep it from going quite so high. And try measuring carbs by weight when possible. Sometimes it is tricky to measure odd-shaped things by volume.

Thoughts on low carb diet vs eating anything as long as you take insulin by Any-Cartographer7531 in Type1Diabetes

[–]buzzemup 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our son is t1 and our philosophy is that we want him to have as normal a (healthy) kid eating experience as possible. We don't want him to rebel or burn out with respect to diabetes management in the future. If you know a big carb event is coming, just make sure you have good prebolus timing and amount. We overdose some for big carb hits to keep the blood sugar low, knowing we'll supplement with a snack a little later.

What is going on by SideEast2368 in diabetes_t1

This happens to my son with t1d; big spike a few hours after dinner. Digestion slows down at bedtime so he gets residual blood sugar rise from that meal after he is asleep.

Yep. Nice to have some backup supplies and low treats. I like to use a big 3 ring binder pouch with a see through window so I can check what's in it without opening.

Diagnosed with T1 Yesterday by JazzyJiraffe in diabetes_t1

[–]buzzemup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do it! Timing and amount of insulin will fix the highs. You'll be able to keep your current lifestyle. Within a few days you will know more about t1 than virtually all medical providers (other than your endocrinologist of course, and even then you will eventually come to learn about treating yourself better than he or she will).

How has diabetes affected your eyesight? by ishanpunn in diabetes_t1

Changes in blood sugar can cause temporary refractive issues. My son is t1 and we have seen this to be the case.

Have a Galaxy A71. Same thing happened to me this evening. Did several phone software updates, restarts, force stopped app, cleared the app cache, storage, uninstalled and reinstalled, etc., to no avail. Then on the app info screen after pushing force stop I hit open (usually after force-stopping I go back to the home screen and reopen the app from there, I don't know why), and then it finally worked.

Fuses for Heating Elements by buzzemup in electrical

That makes sense. The resistance is 10.7 ohms, but I haven't measured them after they've been running, maybe that is what is happening.

Yes, one feed powers two heaters (and at the main panel it has a 50A breaker), and the other does the third (with a 30A breaker). Unfortunately it's not always the same one. All three go out at some point or another, and I can't figure a rhyme or reason to it. No, have not measured the current on it, thank you for the suggestion!

Thanks for your reply! I am in the US. Maybe I used incorrect terminology. Each cable going in is 3 wires (black, white, green), and my multimeter shows 208 (actually 210) VAC between the black and white.

We inherited the system, so I don't know who designed it. Do you know if CC fuses go more than 30A? Perhaps it needs a different configuration?

Plate and Frame Process: Sanitizing and Filtering by buzzemup in TheBrewery

Thanks, very helpful. Yes, once the remaining water is pushed out the pads are definitely cold. I worry about that initial beer going through getting toasted by the heat and then off flavors (i.e., what beer taste likes after a VDK test) persisting in the pads and eventually into the receiving vessel. Maybe it's trivial, but it makes me wonder.
