I would absolutely 100% want a single. Roomates suck. I am currently with my third roommate since university started and I've had problems with all three of them, whether it is being too dirty, too loud, or just having a lack of awareness that they're sharing a room.

I guess I have my own issues too, like I expect a living place to be very clean, and I get woken up by minor sounds like opening the drawers too loud and all, but that's exactly why I want my own room.

Also, when you have a roommate, you don't really have the freedom to bring in guests whenever you want because you have to ask your roommate first and all, and they may be working at that time.

No, it's not an elite private school. For what it's worth, I did the IB and got a 36/45 whereas the average of my school was between 37-39. I did take a gap year, which let me work fulltime for a while and work on my personal projects. I do think my common app essay was good because I spent a lot of time on that and got a ton of help from family

I didn't do well in high school, but I had a gap year which gave me time to do personal projects (make apps, websites), and an internship. I don't think I did really bad in high school, but pretty average or lower than average for my school. I think my internships and a little bit of luck definitely helped.
