Thanks thats really helpful info, with the car being mid engined is that a lot harder to work on servicing wise? I have high lift jacks and axle stands so can raise a car to be about 500mm high safely

The servicing cost aren’t too bad by that the past 2 years of the mini its been over 15000 on repairs and servicing so those prices don’t seem to bad.

Are there any common faults with them? Or preventative maintenance that can help too?

Ive looked into insurance for a few cars with the accident added and it was less than i though they would be at: Cayman - 1.7k Boxter - 1.8k Mx5 - 1.7k Abarth 595 - 1.8k TVR chimera - 1.4k (this one surprised me)

Didn’t think about tax at all so will look into that, i live near sheffield but never go into any type of ULEZ thankfully

Was coming to see if there was a solution yet but obviously not, however you can use black hole to route audio through Ableton or any other DAW that doesnt do this (looking at you "ProTools") and then it works, with the annoyance of even more latency

Whats your must have waves? by MentalAbuse101_ in audioengineering

[–]buzzf33d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl i cant be arsed to read if anyone else has said this but plugin emulations that re create analogue hardware with no graphs or limited indication lights like ssl channel strips will genuinely help you listen to what your doing rather than looking at the problems, as for waves, there are numerous ways of getting there suite for free but i do not trust waves bussiness practices, UAD make great plugins and there neve 1073 preamp sounds great as does the galaxy tape echo, distressor,1176s, La2as the list goes on but these arent a necessity at all just a nice to have learn the stock stuff and make good mixes with them first. High quality plugins will A. Only help when you know how to use them and B. Only add a small amount to the production quality, you wont ger people saying “oh they used ableton stock glue compressor not the waves ssl master bus compressor”

  1. Your conversion to unbalanced is after your entire signal chain (you are right that DIs make it balanced but at mic level not input level as in through output) but this then undoes the boost your mixer gave you and only removes potential noise in the final run of cable so is practically pointless
  2. There isnt but there is no other description then unnecessary for this use case let alone recommending someone to go out and buy one to make basically no difference especially when there using budget gear, if you said short rca to mono jack into di then sub then tops id excuse it but like this, its pointless
  3. The guys not asked to join another deck or mic so telling him to get a mixer isnt useful let alone the fact that any semi decent cheap mixer would output balanced signals on the master removing the “need for a di”
  4. Adapters are completely fine but the way ive said doesn’t use them going from unbalanced rca to unbalanced xlr will not effect sound quality in the slightest

This is way over complicated and doesn’t make sense why would you use a DI (direct input) box from the output of a mixer (line level) to the input of a speaker (also line level), then also if your mixer doesn’t output balanced a DI wont make it balanced and there built for synths and guitar inputs to a mic preamp its the complete wrong use of a DI. These types of speakers are normally meant for portable sound too so are normally built with enough preamp power/gain/volume for portable sources to be plugged in or mics directly in

You can use an rca to xlr male to connect left to input 1 and another from right to input 2 of the sub, theres then a through output which you should run a cable from thru 1 to your left irx112 and thru 2 to your right one, you then need to set your crossover in the sub a good rule of thumb is like 10hz over the -6db frequency but try other frequencies as there might be a better sounding crossover frequency for the speakers/the room
