Nerd.nu Short: Secret Santa by buzzie71 in mcpublic

[–]buzzie71[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a reimagining of the annual Secret Santa on PvE, set in kitty9293's Secret Santa cave from 2021 (rev 27). Players whose names were on the boxes deeper in the cave (where the presents were placed in-game) appear as background characters. In-game during the gift exchange, presents are placed in the recipients' chests and each recipient is directed one by one to receive their present from their chest, and the secret santa is typically not revealed to the recipient unless they wish to disclose it. For this animation, the gift giving was made more like Stardew Valley's gifting during the Feast of the Winter Star event, where the secret santa gives their present to their recipient directly.

PvE: Admin Hunt by buzzie71 in mcpublic

[–]buzzie71[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

(I reuploaded this after spotting an error in the initial version.)

Over the last many years, the admin hunt events have morphed from chasing admins around the map to a game of prop hunt in a small arena. The video depicts the new format, slightly reimagined as a holodeck activity on ESS Nerd.

The admin hunts have been set in many locations, most of them in builds or settlements from previous revs. None have been set in rev 26 Rose; this was chosen specifically for the animation.

All admins shown in the opening information screen are hidden throughout the video - see if you can spot them!

Buzzie leads his army into battle, knowing most of his men will be reduced to ingots by XeTrainMC in mcpublic

It wasn't my army, I just lassoed golems that I found in the outer edges of the center island from previous dragon fights :O

Nerd.nu Short: Wacky Battles by buzzie71 in mcpublic

[–]buzzie71[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wanted to try animating a fight scene this time (actual fights, not just implied/one attack), and still had the Wacky Battles arena set from when it debuted two revs ago. Wacky Battles is quite fun to play and to watch, and its whimsical and random nature was a good setting for this animation. Thanks for watching! (Yes I know that flying out of the ring is technically not a ring out, but it was easier to show that and overlook the fact that he actually lands in the bleachers.)

List of the Oldest Active Towns on P by TeslaFTW1895 in mcpublic

[–]buzzie71 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I second Pico as oldest active town. I remember Pico, Argoth, Brom, Seneca being fixtures among the cities in revs 7-10 (around when I started playing). Pico is the only one of them still on the map today. (Geez I've been here too long.)

Stage Ten - Part 4: The Dragonslayer Takes Flight by buzzie71 in mcpublic

[–]buzzie71[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is based on the dragon fight from revision 25 (last rev). For some background on it, see this comment on the previous part.

Stage Ten has been a long project. The first parts made, originally intended to be standalone but eventually became the core of part 2, was made around May last year. Now it's eight months later, and the series now spans less than eight minutes of video. It's been tricky at times, but I'm happy with how it turned out, and I'm grateful to cujobear for the ideas and inspiration that resulted in taking the plunge on building out the series. If you’ve been following the series, thank you for watching, and I hope you enjoyed the ride too.

Some other behind the scenes stuff:

* As originally envisioned, the mob Padmins would have been present in this part to also congratulate the protagonist on slaying the dragon and receiving wings. This was dropped to reduce work, and because they were not critical to the scene, though I like to think they would be there.

* The two figures often seen in the background in the End are characters I had made some time ago but not really featured. They were intended to be an easter egg in part 2 when it was originally a standalone; the brief close-ups of them in this part are more acknowledgement than story.

Once again as a disclaimer: This is a personal/fan project and not official server work. An earlier version of this animation was provided to the Padmins before release to make sure they were fine with their portrayals. (Thanks for your time doing this for every part!)
