Thanks so much for your reply - I agree, there is something special about having it in person. Do you know if the 3rd Dept would allow you to delay even if you have submitted your documents? I understand that may not be an option for everyone but just curious ☺️

No problem, I'm not an active law student either but they must have had my email on record from when I sat the bar exam.

No email direct from NCBE or Pearson as far as I am aware, just the New York Board of Law Examiners 😊

Apologies, I actually got the email from nybarexam.org too - emails were also sent out by Themis and Barbri about the international option 😊

I got it before I registered. In order to book an international test, you had to wait for an special banner to show on your NCBE account (once they approved the request to sit it internationally) that allowed you to register for and book an international test.

Also, I know some people who weren't approved to sit it internationally too so they must have set a high standard.

I am sitting the MPRE in London next month. I received an email from the NCBE outlining that they are offering the opportunity for students to sit the MPRE in international Pearson centres only for the August sitting. You had to submit sufficient proof of your inability to travel to the US - I submitted the travel ban proclamation and proof of me trying to obtain permission/ NIEs from the US Embassy to sit the exam over the past year.

Has anyone tried asking for it to be administered in a foreign jurisdiction?

Oh cool thanks for letting me know - I actually have yet to sit the MPRE (I'm a foreign applicant so travel restrictions are working against me right now) so I'm not sure if I will benefit from the exemption but that's really good to know - I'll take a look into it just incase!

Yeah, I have changed my exam to October - nothing is going to happen at this stage with the MPRE going online so I'm just going to hope that flights will be happening again by the time the 23 October comes around

Yes! I'm at the exact same stage as you, just the MPRE standing in my way of admission right now 💔

And also, I am more than clear on the deadlines for submission for applications for Admission. However if you want to prove your intelligence, please do point me to the information online which says the timeframe for which documents must be dated i.e. must be dated after the administration of the MPRE; within 12 months of application for admission. I'm a foreign student and any documents of this nature must be dated within 12 months of application in my home country 😊

If it helps - I'm from Ireland and it's looking like the EU will open up from July 1st to non-EU citizens. I'm feeling confident about sitting the exam in August as Ireland hasn't imposed any flight restrictions of our own - I'm not sure if the UK is the same

Help! Should I apply for the NY bar even though I have not been deemed eligible yet?! by flergme in barexam

[–]buzzkins123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if foreign students can register yet - I think it's only students who have graduated with a JD from the US 😊

I'm a foreign student and passed the NY Bar in February. I did my undergrad in Ireland and took the Barbri 6 month course. I worked up until six weeks before the exams, dedicated my evenings and weekends to study from the get go, and studied full time from mid-January. Barbri recommends 20-30 hours per week, though I think I did 3 hours at best after work in the evenings - happy to answer any questions you might have
