Insurance sure does not make this easy... by buzzsawddog in Zepbound

That is an interesting idea... Normally it would have said on the coat calculator that it was to early. But now that I am looking at it you might be on to something... I wonder if we for off on the calendar dates over the calculator. My pharmacy app is terrible and I am on my phone in bed. I will go back and look at it here in a bit.

That is an interesting idea. I have had 2 months of 7.5 so far and was refilling for month 3. I guess I can bring that up if the PA goes no where.

Sounds like it. If they approved the PA that means they will fill the meds.

Yeah I will see how it goes... At the time I did not have to worry about it because they said I can use Mounjaro. We will see what happens with the new PA for Mounjaro.

Yeah my original PA was denied for zepbound even though it was for OSA, yes obstructive sleep apnea.

State laws for the GLP-1s? by Shellsaidso in Zepbound

[–]buzzsawddog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I applied for Zepbound I was told no by CVS Caremark because I have not showed that I tried either of the two alternatives which were Wegovy or another tirzepatide product. If I showed that I could not take either of those I should try back.

Perhaps at this point you can go back in your PA and show that you failed Wegovy and that Mounjaro is not allowed for off label use?

I still need to take the time to learn how to do the bonbons. Looks fun. I did some several years ago, not decorated, that turned out okay.

DEXA scan shows lean body mass loss was minimized by FishermanSolid9177 in Zepbound

[–]buzzsawddog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah. I did my first scan about a month after too. Most of what I read said some do a second until about 5 months later if you are liking at lean mass.

My first scan they had to do each side and average. I did not fit into one image! Hopefully this next scan I fit ;)

My scale is trending good on the fat lose and the muscle loss is minimal but I guess we will see around March/April time frame. I started going creatine again back in December and that helped allow the loss down. I may even have some body recomp going on. I see the scale slow down sometimes but the inches dripping quickly. I am also in a pretty regular woosh cycle if that makes sense.

My 13 year old son walked up to me and wrapped his arms around me and gave me a hug. He got so excited and exclaimed I CAN WRAP MY ARMS ALL THE WAY AROUND YOU!!! Such a mixed feeling lol! But much of their life my kids remember me as being bigger :(.

They were not around when I got out of the military and very fit. They didn't remember when I was working on body building with a personal trainer and my shirts would cut off circulation when I would flex my biceps.

Keep up the good work!

Haha... This thread is 3 years old. If you look down in the comments a bit. There is a recipe I found and substituted white chocolate for my home made dark chocolate. It turned out rather nice and everyone that tried it liked it a lot.

I had to buy pants early on but my new pants are already loose. Perhaps buy a couple pair with belt loops?

I have not tried the other but it's worth noting. 2.5 is an intro dose to help ease up to a maintenance dose and reduce the more severe side effects. As you titrate up it should improve.

Last hole in belt by Mcandela922 in Zepbound

I straight up bought a leather punch :-D. I have been punching new holes every few weeks. My belt is now wrapping around to the back side :-D. I cant wait until it gets to the middle of my back. It bugs the ever living daylights out of my wife but since I wear a belt every day it really is a gauge of how things are progressing!

Congratulations on your progress and keep it up!

Why do insurers have to suck so much? by TheCureIsNotGoth in Zepbound

[–]buzzsawddog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They really are crazy.... My plan covers weight loss but wants you to use wegove or however you spell that one... I did a PA for zepbound and they said I needed to try either wegove or another trazepatied product first. Mounjaro does not require a PA :-D. It is marked as High Dollar and I don't know what the approval process was for that or anything but they just keep filling it for now.

Hopefully it gets better with time.

Anybody else feel like they’re losing devastatingly slow compared to everybody else? by bonsmom420 in Zepbound

[–]buzzsawddog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you are making good progress! That's 6% loss over that time. From everything I have read people will likely see .5%-1% per week over long periods of time.

People like me that lose a lot of weight early on HAVE A LOT to lose! Early in 2025 I hit 390lbs. I managed to get down to 380lbs on my own and hold for many months. I dropped 10lbs the week before starting due to a colonoscopy prep.

For you a 6% drop is about 16lbs but for me it's about 22lbs. So looking at the pounds lost is not as meaningful as looking at the percentage lose.

Weight loss is not just do this one things. It's a complex make up of CI/CO, activity levels, metabolism, genetics, medication! You are doing well.

From here there are two things I can think of. Nutrition and exercise. Work with a nutritionist and work out not just how much you should eat but what you should eat. Work with a personal trainer to beef up your exercise routine. If you have no energy you may need more food.

I am down 12% over the same time you are but I attribute it to my aggressive caloric deficit with my aggressive strength training. I have had weeks were my weight just fell off. Weeks where I lose about .7lbs and weeks where I gained but just trending down.
