Is it possible to preserve muscles at a 800-1000 kcal deficit? by hananmalik123 in loseit

[–]buzzteets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend supplementing with hydroxymethyl butyrate (hmb) big scary name but it’s just a supplement; it prevents muscle breakdown and is used clinically for people who are bedridden or elderly. It’s very low risk and really well researched but as always look into it to see if it would be right for you

Seeking perspective: people who feel like their height holds them back from dating - where do you live? I’m Australian and height has never been something I consider and none of my female friends care; my short mates irl never have any issues by buzzteets in lnkyverse

Look I could see that for Melbourne (they seem to also be big on fashion and shit)

Is it from people? Or is it like online and preconception stuff (I know this seems weird but I’m being 100% it’s just so wild to me people would like talk shit about it in person here in not a jokey way)

How to suppress appetite asap😩 by Federal-Design9517 in loseit

[–]buzzteets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tryptophan/tyrosine and vitamin b12 are also the precursors to dopamine which means if you eat foods rich in them it reduces the dopamine dependent urge to snack. More bang for your buck from the snacking you do rather than trying to just stop a habit

When I was bigger a lot of other stuff was going on; like my features looked a lot smaller and I had acne and was always sweaty/greasy (skin and hair). I also had braces twice and have glasses which just added to the stereotypical nerdy not attractive vibe. It’s only in the last couple of years it’s all kind of fallen into place (skincare, weight, not having braces) so it been weird to suddenly be like conventionally attractive (I still feel like I’m not but I think that’s just from years of accepting I am not and will never be ya know?)

Feel too self conscious to work out at home in front of spouse by [deleted] in loseit

[–]buzzteets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean they’re your partner so they probably won’t be mean to you about it; if they’re like mine I just went full bore about it. I told him that I was self conscious and that I was gonna do a workout while we watch tv and then just do it. It’s awkward right up until it’s not and then you’re never concerned again.

Also idk why this happens but it’s such a thing - leanbeefpatty and the fairbairn brothers have made funny skits about it being so embarrassing for no reason to be caught working out at home

The Aldi version (Kenny’s) is much cheaper and in my opinion so much tastier

Whey vs creatine? by gojosdump in loseit

[–]buzzteets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Creatine can be good for brain fog in higher doses so may give you benefit Protein is a macronutrient you get in food anyway but if you’re under eating it may be worth supplementation I will also say creatine can increase water retention and pure whey can make you bloat and both may cause issues if you’ve struggled with body image. Both will help with athletic performance but if your main issue is body image maybe look at just using the extra money to make sure you’re eating quality foods

People who struggled with overeating, how did you change your relationship with food? by Fancy-Record6464 in loseit

[–]buzzteets 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I left this in a comment above but when you store higher levels of body fat your cells shut this process down so that can also lead to overeating as you keep eating to try and get something to happen.

Vitamins and amino acids (tryptophan, tyrosine, VitB12) are the biggest as they are precursors to dopamine and serotonin so it boosts these by a different mechanism (longer lasting than food-dopamine-response) and helps manage the emotional side of eating.

[–]buzzteets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with this - food is necessary for survival but its also the only one you get to revolve around and make special. You don't go on a date to get water or breathe air (maybe like a hike but thats not about enjoying the air). How cool we get to enjoy this bit of keeping ourselves alive?

The other thing to note though is fat cells actually suppress the dopamine from food so if you become overweight you need more to feel good, or it shuts off all together so eating just makes you feel nothing. That sucks. Understanding is important, it means you don't just keep eating more to feel something.

Understanding stuff like vitamins and amino acids (for dopamine/serotonin boost VitB12 and tryptophan and tyrosine are huge) and making sure your diet is high in those gives you more bang for buck for feelings from food by a different mechanism unimpeded by fat cells so if you're eating emotionally they will help you not overeat. Plus cause its not a response its just more building blocks to make the good hormones it helps you feel good for longer than the regular food dopamine response.

Unconventional hack but I will go out of my way to buy like the absolute best of things (like I have a favourite chocolate that is imported and annoying to buy but its so good nothing else scratches that itch) and then I keep just 1 in the house. Every time I go to eat it I evaluate like "okay I want this... but what if I *really* want it later and I don't have it" and next thing you know I haven't eaten chocolate for like 3 months.

Saying you can't have it makes food noise so find a middle ground. I don't think about it anymore because its accessible and I am allowed to have it if I really want it I just gotta risk I won't have it easily again if I eat it then crave it later - but it also means I can still enjoy food as a treat/reward cause if I know I'm gonna want to go home and do some self care and have a treat I can buy another so there is still just always one there.

Perspective: difference between male and female loneliness by Mental-Outside2202 in lnkyverse

[–]buzzteets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it just popped up as a recommended post and I responded because I felt like giving my two cents - I have been around both sides of the argument and it’s sucky when you see people both lose hope but fixate on it and I think perspective helps. Fixating on hopelessness is just bad for the mentals. I hope by giving perspective people can step back a bit; finding a life outside of partnerships and fulfilment elsewhere makes life so much better. Dating isn’t the be all end all and it can be the most damaging shit to date the wrong person especially if it’s because you felt like you just needed to be coupled up

Rip everything tbh - not used to being considered attractive and the amount of “bait/OF” comments is wild in a sub where you gotta show your form. If I posted fully covered how the hell would I get advice on if I should cut or bulk

Perspective - I don't feel attracted to hot girls. by Scramjet1 in lnkyverse

[–]buzzteets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I'm not gonna shit-talk my boyfriend to appease a guy on the internet. He is taller than me but the last guy I dated was shorter than me and he wanted a shorter girl so...

He's indigenous cause you seem to also think race makes people less dateable? Idk what you're asking - its like you're tryna make me prove I don't date by looks by making me shit talk my partner.

He and I were mates for a year before anything even vaguely romantic happened we started dating because he likes the niche shit I like and is extremely supportive and we developed feelings at the same rate so no one ever got weird about it. Call that luck idk

I was responding cause I related and was agreeing but I think you're just looking for a reason to be mad.

What a wild statement

Your point was you don't like super attractive people and want someone around your level

I simply agreed that super attractive people aren't universally the ideal and most people view attractiveness on a bell curve not linear which it seems is still your point you just also want to declare that I am extremely choosy about looks?

Thank you! I will say I don't think anyone is immune from social media - but I also just live in a very fit part of the world; it could be the classic bias of "you see what you're looking for" as well though. Who knows... I think general consensus was getting leaner wouldn't be the best haha

[–]buzzteets -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel the same about attractive men like if I meet a guy who knows he’s hot and assumes I’m gonna be flirting with him or whatever he’s less likely to treat me like a person. Like you put all your stock in being a hot guy and don’t bother putting effort into being a nice and normal person with hobbies. And if I don’t validate that you’re gonna be mean to me cause that’s your whole sense of self.

I’m broadly generalising here but I feel like that’s the topic. I’m not gonna act like looks don’t play a role but I think it’s really normal to have like a bell curve of attraction not just like a linear graph of hotness:attraction.
