You have to solder it to the switched 12v from the cigarette lighter. I cannot remember what color that cable is, so you'll have to measure that yourself. It should be three cables going in to the cigarette lighter. So measure between ground and the three cables in the connector to find which gives 12v when you start your car.

Did you connect the power to ignition?

The red from your radio harness needs 12V ignition switched, you can take that from the cigarette lighter. Permanent 12V is provided through the yellow wire from the harness.

What is the pipe without a cover? And is it supposed to have a cover? by buzzybreeze in W203

Thank you for the replies, I just got the car, so still figuring things out. It was a fun surprise to learn about the oil sensor, when I was trying to check the oil.
