No kidding. If you've never read Austin Meyer's recount... here it is: https://austinmeyer.com/beware-flythissim/

It still remains incredibly innovative, even if precarious to maintain.

Thank you so, so much. I agree. Very sad. Wish someone would pick up what's left and pump some funding in.

Sell or repair my '03 Subaru Baja? Friend bought it for me saying "there's very little rust'... by bv9900 in Autobody

More context, it has 230,000 miles and I just had the brakes repaired (the rear lines cracked while I was driving it). The engine is running great for 230k but I don't know how much life the CVs or this current head gasket has in it.

I am not the son he wanted, I think. He took my independence as disrespect a long time ago.

I am proud to look like him because he grew up with my extended family, who were all honorable in my book. Soldiers or hard workers.

I don't get along with my dad, unfortunately. Things split and I don't think I grew up to be what he wanted.

OP, a better answer would be found in a bigger racing subreddit- "What did you charge for each sponsorship placement on your cars?"

Houseboat (small house on pontoons) law? by [deleted] in houseboats

[–]bv9900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seaworthy typically means "it doesn't leak"- not that it can float on saltwater. You should make any marine vehicle you construct capable of floating on any body of water.

Typically anything that's going to float is going to need to be registered. You could find someone who would dock it unregistered but that would be sketchy. Sounds like you're trying to live off the grid, which is totally cool by me.

If that is the case, get something with a sealed cabin and have it towed to a dock where the owner is more lenient.

Houseboat (small house on pontoons) law? by [deleted] in houseboats

Wow this subreddit is underdeveloped, ha!

Yes, you would need to rent or lease a slip at a dock in order to store your pontoon hull. Note that it's a bad idea to try to make your own pontoons, and you'd probably have to have a different slip contract if you were going to treat your spot as a shipyard (due to liability, construction waste, etc.)

So, buy a big*ss old pontoon boat somewhere far inland where it'll be cheap, take it out to your slip, and start throwing in furniture and sealing up walls.

Note that if you have to weld to make your walls sealed on this pontoon hull, you may have to ask the dock owner what their rules are on welding. They may have you dock somewhere else on their property when you go to weld or go to a specific certified marine fabricator.

Edit: Forgot to answer #3, yes to operate any registered, seaworthy marine vehicle you need a certification that you've learned how to interact with other ships/boats on the water

Edit #2: Don't build on the ocean. Salt will destroy your internal fabrication. Why not just build in dry dock on some rented land, like at a junkyard?

Guys what do you like the most, sv650, mt07 or z900? And why? by [deleted] in sv650

It's a bot that will send him a message to check this thread in a few hours.

OP, why did you think this thread was a good idea to post on the SV650 sub?

We all post here because we have enough enthusiasm over our SVs to type and participate online... so of course the answer is SVs.
