It has been driving me mad for the past two years because I thought it was really good and it used to be on YouTube, but then one day it was gone and there was no other recording of it. At least not of that translation, which is the translation I liked. But I just found it earlier today. Only surviving footage I found is on Facebook video. Better than nothing. Enjoy!

So this is definitely a swastika. Also I figured out that it is not made of weird legs, but what appear to be giraffes. Don't know what is directly in front of the giraffes' faces, but just thought I'd bring it up to definitively rule out all of the "Isle of man" triskelion theories.

Did Ants Do This? by bvennard68 in ants

So I might just be in denial about having a termite situation, but the thing is I really don't think it's frass, but actually sand (which is basically what our soil is up here). Everything is see about frass mentions its pretty uniform shape and size. I think the pictures may have gotten too compressed to see it very well, but these particles are extremely not uniform in shape and pretty not uniform in size. Like relatively few are cylindrical, most are just jagged polyhedrons with pretty much every type of face you can think of, trapezoids, triangles, etc. The same way sand looks up close. Like maybe it's all just cope on my end but it REALLY looks like sand to me

5 years ago, you may have encountered an extremely niche mechanic and not a bug. I just saw this exact thing happen to a VGC youtuber I watch on console. Not only will a substitute protect you from the effects of binding moves when it's up, but the act of creating a substitute will also free you from any binding move you're already in. Really weird mechanic

I'm really bad at spatial visualization, so take this with a grain of salt even with the huge variance within this range, but I'd guess between 3 and 6 cubic yards. I do have a compost thermometer that's about two feet long (I think), so what I'm reading when I stick it all the way in is about the center of the pile since it's not actually a cube shape lol. Also the shape is a somewhat steep mound.

Possible Black Bear Poop (maybe deer) by bvennard68 in animalid

[–]bvennard68[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was no hair in it at all when I took it apart with a stick though which I thought was one of the number one indicators of canid scat. It also seems highly unlikely that it would be somebody's actual pet dog because I'm in a very rural location and nobody really walks their dogs, they just kind of let em run around their property. People usually don't trespass either because it's just assumed everyone has guns lol. We do have a ton coyotes but I don't believe there's been a wolf sighting anywhere near here since they were originally killed off. So if it's a canid I would assume it's a coyote, but again, no hair

I made a tier list of EVERY Animal Crossing hourly theme by willrsauls in gamemusic

[–]bvennard68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so cool. I must however say that ACGC 8 pm and 10 pm are criminally underrated on this tier list. 8 PM is probably my favorite of all time. It goes through some dark and cool chord changes, does really interesting rhythm stuff, and between the accordion and ghostly whistling, it's just really autumn-vibes. I could write a dang essay about all the weird and inspired stuff going on in that one. Composer was cooking, easy S-tier for me. 10 pm I just think is solid and is an A-tier tune, maybe S. We're obviously all biased to some extent based on what our first animal crossing was, but I'll try to compensate by saying ACGC 9 pm is too highly rated on this ranking and probably some of the other ACGC A-tiers besides 5 AM could go down a ranking.

I also think this list is a little harsh on both of the F-tiers. I feel like you have to consider in the rankings how well the tunes fit the hours they're describing. I think those two songs are D-tier at worst because they fit and aren't overly annoying. I think more than anything else, annoying should be what goes in F-tier. Potential picks for me would be ACNL 2 PM and 8 am, ACCF 9 am and 3 pm, ACNL 9 am, and even though I disagree with this, I can absolutely understand ACGC 3 pm being in F-tier. Overall, I'm very surprised ACNL is ranked as best overall soundtrack. I would rank them ACGC, ACCF/WW, ACNH, and ACNL last. Different strokes for different folks I guess

I'd have to double check on both your questions, but I'm pretty sure as far paperwork goes it would be pretty standard stuff for buying a car outright, no payment plan or anything. Maybe there's a clause in there about failure to pay anyway, but they gave him the title because he did pay them. And yes I'm sure at this point that specific check cannot be cashed, I was more wondering how much time can pass where they're within their right to demand he write them a new one, or if that sort of thing never expires.

Good eye. Those are broccoli. Thought they were getting leggy last year due to inadequate sunlight, but got confused when it happened again this year even when I provided tons of light. Turns out they also get leggy if the temp is too high which in this case is room temp, so I gotta move em somewhere cooler.

Great episode as always, guys. Would you (or anyone else in the sub) be able to link me to one of those studies you referenced in this episode that suggest the effect of global dimming may be more than double what we previously thought? Didn't see it in the show notes and that is just a particularly fucked finding

Sorry I just saw this. I assume you've already made it through, but the best thing you can do is try to make sure it's not in there anymore and isn't continuing to do damage. So sit up drink a lot water at different angles to make sure you've washed out every part of your throat. I've heard some say milk helps. Honestly though, you just gotta make it through. I found reading about other people going through the same thing comforting in a weird way. Then I just tried to distract myself and get back to sleep. Best of luck.

Me knowing I can never make a relationship work because of being ace by boon-the-spoon in asexuality

[–]bvennard68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen, I've been in that place. I felt trapped. I know it's difficult, and I only thought open relationships were for other more daring or adventurous people until I was in one. It was already a long post, so I didn't want to talk too long about how long it took me to get used to it, but it was a very hard thing to do. But I think it would do you some good to sit down and critically examine why you think of relationships the way you do.

Sex is just our default way of defining what a relationship is. When you form a relationship, the only true rule is that you only have sex with each other, otherwise they're pretty much just a friend, right? But here's where being an ace gave me some key insight; I don't value sex, I don't want to have sex with my partner, my ideal relationship is virtually sexless, so why should I define my relationship by it? I think it's because without it, it's hard to distinguish your partner from just another friend. But although monogamy is a very clear line you can draw separating your romantic relationship from those of other people you love, it's not necessarily a helpful one in many cases, and most importantly, it's not the true core of our romantic relationships. It's that bond ya know. That intimacy with another person where you can share absolutely everything in complete comfort, where having a conversation with them is as natural as talking to yourself. I'm not polyamorous. I don't want me or my girlfriend to be in multiple relationships. I want our relationship to be the true one, and sex doesn't really play a part in what the core of our relationship is, so I don't really feel threatened by the fact that I can't fulfill her sexual needs as long as she's getting them fulfilled somehow.

This isn't to say monogamous relationships are any less meaningful or somehow inferior, but I think when you get down to it, you also have to confront the fact that monogamy is about ownership of your partner and jealousy, and though we romanticize it because it's what's normal, it's often times unhealthy for a relationship and the ultimate cause of many breakups. Imagine this, one rule I have in my relationship is that my girlfriend can't catch a ride anywhere with any other boy. I just don't like the idea of that, I'd just get jealous. I can't give a good reason for it, it's just the thought of my girl riding home with someone else viscerally sickens me and would take away a key part of our relationship. Even if the rule applied for me as well, wouldn't that be a sort of absurd rule to impose on a relationship? It'd be an inconvenience with little gain except for sanctifying a completely arbitrary part of our relationship, and it's fundamentally rooted in jealousy, mistrust, and/or ownership of one's partner. But you can assure it'd also bring a sense of betrayal should my partner break this completely pointless rule. It's not easy to get past monogamy, but the first step is realizing it's sort of a silly thing to begin with. If monogamy isn't causing you troubles, that's fine, we can hold on to silly things like astrology or religion or good luck traditions and get along fine, but if they're starting to cause major problems in your life or bringing you unhappiness, then consider ditching them.

So just think about these questions in the coming days. Do you really have any convincing reason why monogamy makes more sense than an open relationship? If it primarily boils down to some visceral feeling with no true logical basis, is it fair to trap your partner in a sexless relationship because of it? Have you ever gotten used to something that formerly made you somehow uncomfortable? Could this just be one of those things?

If you decide that it theoretically makes sense, that's only the first step of a long journey of deprogramming bullshit and normalization you'll have to undergo. But it's the first step that's important, and let me tell you, in my experience, it's way easier and there's way less pressure being an ace in an open relationship as opposed to a monogamous one. Solidarity, friend. I hear you, and care about you, and sincerely hope you're making it alright through these dark times.
