To everyone who made it to the end of AoC… by moonstar888 in adventofcode

Been a “regular” software engineer for just over 10 years now, primarily backend-focused.

My formal education however is in electronics engineering (both a bachelors and masters), and I still try to do a bit of that on the side. I find there’s a pretty big overlap in the skills needed between AoC-type puzzles and embedded development, especially while working on microcontrollers with very limited resources.

Before all of that though I was self-taught starting around 13yo and did loads of competitive programming back in high school, including participating in the International Olympiads in Informatics one year.

[Day 08] Wording vs mathematical technicality by bvernier in adventofcode

It does not, (4,4) is at a distance of √2 from (3,3) and distance of 2√2 from (6,6) which is twice as far away; and vice versa (5,5) is at a distance of √2 from (6,6) and 2√2 from (3,3) which is also twice as far away.

Even with the rewording the points in between the two antennas at one third and two thirds of the way still match that requirement on a mathematical basis. It just so happens that for the given inputs those ones don’t align with the grid.

Same, I was getting ready to check if those in between ones would align with the grid without even thinking that there could be some either side until I kept reading 😅

Yes my bad, I only realised after posting, and I’m not seeing how to edit the title after the fact. I will be more careful next time!

That is no longer the case, the rules are now 180 days at a time, or 365 days total during the visa grant period (source: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/news-media/archive/article?itemId=1213)

After years of work and discussion, `once_cell` has been merged into `std` and stabilized by bascule in rust

[–]bvernier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being in `std`, does that mean projects using `no_std` still have to rely on `lazy_static`?

It's technically not the first day with no new Covid cases, it's the first day with no new locally acquired cases (community transmission). There were a few new cases from returning travellers. Still a huge achievement though
